OT: Hip Hop Music

Post#1 » by OrlandoMagic » Fri Jun 13, 2008 4:50 pm

Hey all Im going to start teaching Hip Hop at my cousins Dance Studio. Im going to be teaching kids ages 8-14 than one adult class. Its pretty much beginning Hip Hop with one advanced class. I am in need of some hip hop music whether its older newer faster or slower it doesnt matter. I just need some music that doesnt curse to much and has a good and easy beat to dance to. I appreciate all the replies.

Oh and for my first class Im going to be using Petey Pablo - Show Me the Money and Timbaland - The Way I Are

This is a Hip Hop number from my old Studio. This was taught by my friend Jesse about 2 yrs ago. I think he was 17 or 18 at the time...

Wow, I'm getting old. Other than Usher and Timberlake I have no idea who any of those are. Where's the Grand Master Flash, Beastie Boys, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest and Sugar Hill Gang?

some new stuff you might like trying out, since these kids are likely to be into this type of music and want to know how to dance to it...

Chris Brown - Forever (real hot right now)
Ne-Yo - Closer
Git Fresh/Deepside - Booty Music
Rock City - Losing It (about to jump up on the charts)
Pretty Ricky - Cuddle Up (new single)

He's calling it hip-hop when I think he actually means club/dance-type music.

Guess it was an umbrella term. Hey anyone have some rock music I can listen to? You know, like some Backstreet Boys or something?

Half the tracks in here I don't consider Hip-Hop lol...

If you want some real Hip-Hop you can dance to, look for some breakdance tracks and such. Crown City Rockers' B-Boy is a good one IMO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXtJRv36ttU

This reminds me. Where is our annual "What kind of music do you listen to?" thread?
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.
