These are the teams he has or will work out with so far. So you gotta think that he does have a top 5??? Who knows, but evidence is looking like a positive

I dont think that just because he is working out for them, means he has a promise.

if he has a promise in the top 5 then shouldn't he quit all workouts? Isn't that the point, you don't want to risk injury and you give up the possibility of going even higher in exchange for the promise? I thought thats how that thing went.

Lopez has about 7 inches of standing reach on Love. I'm not sure why you'd doubt Lopez would be a better fit defensively.

Cause hes got cement block feet?

Because I'm afraid he won't do anything to utilize that. In the handful of Stanford games I saw, I wasn't impressed.

I would become a Lakers fan if that were the case.

Compared to Kevin Love? Really
I'd say Lopez's athleticism is pretty comparable to other centers who have been taken in the top 5 and have had success in the NBA.

I think Lopez is more comparable to Bogut/ Kaman than Spencer/Longley. I think Lopez has a pretty solid offensive resume.

I don't think Lopez can be Bogut. Lopez isn't nearly the passer Bogut is. If that's what you're after, go for Love. Defensively, Bogut isn't that good to begin with. Lopez won't be Kaman on defense. He's not nearly the post presence. He's not as strong.

Am I the only one who is starting to feel some Chris Webber in Love?

Lopez has about 3 inches of standing reach and 6 inches of wingspan on Kaman. He also weighs 4 lbs more than Kaman did coming in with 10% less body fat. There's no reason Lopez can't be better defensively than Kaman. Lopez isn't the passer Bogut is but there's no reason he can't average the 14-16 ppg those guys do.

Chris Webber was an uber athlete coming out of college. Love might be similar to old Webber, a little.

I'm torn, Lopez' length is so tempting - seeing Gasol this series makes me jealous to have a super lengthy guy stand around the rim and constantly using his length in loose ball situations to cause havoc. And on defense he's gonna be a pain too altering shots. But I think K Luv is gonna be a star. I worry about injuries with him a little, but overall picking Lopez over Love just because he seems physically more appropriate for the team seems akin to passing on Karl Malone for Andrew Bogut, doesn't seem right.

What bugs me is that, with those vitals, why wasn't Lopez utterly dominant on the defensive end at Stanford? Why was he so pedestrian?

I don't see any similarities between Love and Webber besides a lot of hype in college.

I really see more of a similarity with Laettner: Skilled player, great understanding of the game, very confident, and not a great athlete. Will probably put up good numbers and make an All Star game or two, but not a franchise player.

He was very good defensively, he was not pedestrian.

Chad Ford on the Knicks' recent workout of several prospects:

"The only guy from the group who didn't impress was Love, who was outplayed by Ohio State big man Kosta Koufos."

That's right, Kosta Koufos.

Sounds like Chris Webber. Plus Love and Webber are both kinda chubby. Laettner, not so much.
