Big Trade Idea, Nellie style, with D.. but also explosive

Post#1 » by DLeagueAllStars » Fri Jun 13, 2008 6:39 pm

okay, so this would be a 1 year run at a title, along with one year paying the Cap.. if the Warriors go real deep, should pay back what Cohan would have saved if they were under the Cap

Warriors trade and USE - TPE, Harrington and Kosta, 14th pick
Warriors get Sheed and RonRon

WHY: See at the end

Det trades Sheed
Det recieves Kosta, ZBo and #14

Why, they get a chance to get some value for Sheed.. Granted Zbo doesnt have that friendly of a contract, but with DET so far over the cap, wouldnt really matter for awhile.. They could play ZBo at C who would rebound and draft a young PF(warriors plan) at #14...

Billups, Rip, Prince, McDyess and ZBO, along with Stuckey, Johnson, #14, and Maxiell

Knicks trade ZBo, Lee and Rose
Knicks get BMiller and Harrington

Knicks get players more of MikeD's offense.. can move Curry for smaller parts if needed.. Starbury/Crawford/Harrington/Miller/Curry.. or Curry to bench and move AL and Brad down a Pos.. and start someone else at SF

Kings trade Artest and Miller
Kings get Lee and Rose, 7.4 Mil TPE

Granted Kings are losing out on talent, but Miller is a big contract and Artest is going to leave after 09 anyways.. here at least they get to possibly use the TPE on something, and Lee would be a nice PF down the road...

Udrih or draft pick/Martin/Garcia/Lee/Hawes.. Kings are going young and saving the dollars for when they need them

SO THE REASON FOR THE DUBS....

Well a starting lineup of

Baron/SJAX/Artest/Wallace/Biedrins would be long, tough, rugged and very defensive starting unit.

Every position would be manned by a player bigger than the norm for that spot, but would still be able to get up and down the court... Sheed can still space the floor and if the Warriors needed to play half court.. pretty sure Wallace and Ron Ron can do some damage in the post

there is still plenty of offense with that squad and having a super 6th man in Ellis, would be great for a year.. they would be able to let him play even more minutes at PF, further his development.. Still seeing Ellis getting 30-32mins a night

also, Warriors still have Wright, Bukie and Belli playing for them.. Also, after the season hopefully a VERY VERY DEEP run in the playoffs(CHAMPS).. the Warriors see Baron move to LA, Sheed leave with another ring, Artest move on with his Ring to NYK.. and let this team build with Championship experience with Ellis, Biedrins, Wright and SJAX.. fillin some hole with all that cap space.. 38M... and the Warriors could go on the correct way

AT the same time.. we could just have this team fighting every day and we just literally blow up.. even then we still would have 38M in EC's

Go ahead and butcher the idea now.. and I know DET would probably need more motive for this too..

Unless we get someone who Baron obviously has to defer to I'm not in favor of bringing in "talent" to play with Baron.

Might as well trade ellis, Ellis as 6th man is a waste of talent.

Not the worst deal in the world. Is the #14 pick enough for Detroit to pick up the contract of ZBo who would not be able to play Detroit Style defense Maybe if it was Curry who has half the size of a contract.

Also depends on the team paying the luxury tax for one year. That would be about 10 million the equivelant of Artest contract and loss of getting paid for being below the threshold.

This isn't Roller Derby or some basketball movie based on the Dirty Dozen or One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. We are trying to build a solid foundation and a future. Taking 2 legendary loose Cannons, adding a bunch of payroll for guys who'd bolt soon, and are highly volatile and unpredictable is just mad. What next, bring in Charlie Manson as team Chaplain?

Jax is high emotion/adrenalin and his flaw is that can run out of control with swings in his moods and energy. You can have a player like that...but not a bunch of them. Baron at times is a bit impulsive and even Nellie could use a few more reality checks. We'd tend to turn into a bunch of drama queens with someone always off on some agenda or frenzy. Further....we blow assets and the guys we get tend to chuck 3's,have lost a step, don't rebound especially well and at times get in a funk where they just suck for a quarter....or a week.

Yeah...we'd be #1 in T's and tattoos but is that the template? Do we want the Wingnut Express to be the role model for our younger guys....who in this plan seem to get put on hold. We give up a pick we need to make the most of with the fuzzy idea that we are setting up to be Memphis and pursue whatever FA's we can add to a team that's gutted and annually reversing course while planning on a 'veteran core" of guys not yet 23 yrs old. :wavefinger:

Short term....We replace Al + Monta with Sheed + Wallace in Nellieball...and notice a bit less SPEED and a bit less SHOT SELECTION/accuracy. We have every Ref "out to get us" for REAL....and for good reason. We SOMETIMES have super D,but then someone flips out, pouts and is just hacking. :upset:

All in all....it's just TOO Knicks :eek2: We'd be looking at outdated reputations, players with red flags, big salaries for older guys, chuck + luck offense, coachability issues.... :argue:

at first glance, it seemed the kings would be the most unlikely to do the trade. but, then, looking at how talentless they already are, and how much more so they'd be after the trade, i could see them doing a tank job in 08-09 to try to land a top pick.

as for the warriors, you never know what's gonna happen when talented players with attitudes get together. if they respect each other and the coach, it could be crazy enough to work. or it could be crazy enough to suck. also, because this trade would most likely have to go down before/on draft day, would it interfere with re-signing monta and biedrins?

If we want to league the lead in flagrants, Barnes is a great 8th man.

I'd rather trade or pry Marcus Camby from Denver. Getting Camby would no doubt give us the rebounding, mid range shooting and shotblocking type of big man that we sorely need. It would allow Biedrins to slide over to the PF spot and take away the scoring/defense expectations from Beans and BW.

We then could use the TPE to get a proven SG like JR Smith if Pietrus or Azubuike leaves for more money. Chris Wilcox is another possibility.

Camby is much more cost effective (and sane) than Sheed.

however...Azu will be much more cost effective than JR Smith. I doubt we mess with much-if any TPE/MLE add ons to the roster. I'd see little sense in spending cash or trade chips on a short-term patch. We ain't one 34 yr old fading veteran away from the top. We were #9 in the West. We need efficient sustained progress and a commitment to maximizing every asset.

"Bad Boys" don't make you more competitive or tougher per se. I don't need pseudo thugs. Tough guys with the power to make it matter can be a plus-but it's not about mouth or tattoos or some multi-millionaire poser who thinks he's a South Central crack gangsta. 8)

Loading up on jerks and whackos only makes it hard to get anything like the smooth machine we need.
We don't even know who's the next coach.
