Kobe ripped by LA Times writer....guess what for?
This shouldn't surprise me but once again, he is showing just how selfish he truly is. Despite how much of a scorer he is, he will never be great. The ultimate NON teammate...the equal to a class clown that does nothing but seek attention. I am SO glad we have TRUE superstars on our team and nothing like this clown.
The Lakers led by 20 points midway through the third quarter, an insurmountable margin for a team playing at home and possessing the MVP.
And, yeah, they lost by six.
They gave the game away, but not before one of them walked away.
You know how Los Angeles fans are famously criticized for leaving games early.
Add Kobe Bryant to their list.
He walked off the court with three seconds remaining as the Lakers were bringing up the ball for a final shot.
It was a most egregious act for a most valuable player.
Meltdowns everywhere. (click on the link and watch the video of this writer to feel his true disgust)

Even though it was over, way to quit on your team Kobster. Look for 57 shots by him in game 5.

Plaschke, just a guess? Hey, the guy has been ripped on this board for his Pierce comments, but after reading more of him, and seeing him on ESPN, he's a Laker fan, not a Kobe fan. Nothing wrong with him calling out his team. You know that, when Bob Ryan, for example, calls the Celtics out, he's not a hypocrite either.
I agree with the article, and I totally missed Kobe's Belichekean walk-off. Great teammate! I understand hating to lose, but what kind of message does that send to your team? What a petulant prick. Maybe he'll have to buy his team dinner again to make up for this:

The ABC guys spent a couple of minutes selling us on the whole "Kobe is a leader" angle, submitting the following tidbits as evidence: After chewing out a teammate in front of a national TV audience on the court (like Sasha Vujacic in Game 2), Kobe will explain why it happened on the bench afterward; and he goes out for dinner before and after games with his teammates and always picks up the check. Well, then! I guess that's settled.

The biggest problem with Kobe is that he bitches at his teammates down the stretch. Its all well and good to share the ball in the second quarter up by 20. But when pressure possessions come, and you are whining at your teammates for not giving you the ball, its a big, big problem.
What I like about the Celtics is that guys like House and Posey can shoot with confidence. Nobody is going to get mad at them for taking an open look. House missed a big one in Game 3 (I complained at the time, but shouldn't have - it was a good look), but he came right back in Game 4 and made the shot that gave the C's their first lead. Rondo gets an open look, and his teammates encourage him to take it.
Vujacic seems like he has no conscience, so maybe he doesn't get bothered by Kobe bitching at him, but when its late and a guy like Jordan Farmar is getting a look at a three, can he really feel confidence stepping up and taking that shot?

No, but it's called living and dying with your team. If they were up would he have walked off? If they were up 50 would he have walked off because the game was well in hand? It's a piss poor attitude and wanting to hurry up and hide that made him walk off.
It reminds me of a time when I was a kid and the "leader" of our little crew threw a snowball and busted a police cars' window. By the time we all realized what had happened and the cop had gotten out of his car, we turned around and he was GONE! You're the biggest, badest you're the best player on the planet (per mark jackson) yet the first one to run to save face. No, you stay and finish the fight you started!

Come on fellas let's be real, what is going to happen in 3 seconds of play? A 4 point play at best and theyre still down by 2. The game was done. Only people trying to stir the pot give a crap about the amount of steps Kobe took before the clock had officially hit 0.
"A particular shot or way of moving the ball can be a player's personal signature, but efficiency of performance is what wins the game for the team."

All LA TIMES excpet for Mark Heisler are morons. If the Lakers wouldhave won that game by 20 or so they would have ripped your Celtics to shreds trust me. They are band wagon writers. As much as I know you people in Boston dont Like Kobe. These writies live and die on his nuts.

eh idk about that.
To quote Plascke, "Boston is a better team than LA"...w/ that in mind..the only reason Kobe is MVP (and rightfully so) is becuase he did more w/ less. The talent drop off from Kobe to their 2nd star is MUCH bigger than KG to RA/Pierce imo. So according to the title...kobe was the most valuble player in the league cuz he took a mediocre team to the finals. Im not sayin that LA sucks completely...but they don't stack up to boston.
Their number 1 might be better than yours...but youre numbers 2-8 are better than theirs and thats why your 3-1 right now.
Good luck closing out the Lakers.
