I'm having trouble containing my excitement...

Post#1 » by celticfan42487 » Fri Jun 13, 2008 5:39 pm

I'm sorry I can't stop. I'm at work right now.. I've been here for about 4 hours and I can't stop reading about the series.

Does anyone else feel like they're about to get confirmation that they were a hardcore fan during that legendary year of 2008?

The year that started with Ben Wallace saying, paraphrased, " You can't just put a team together and win it all in one year. I'll be damned if you can. It doesn't happen"

And ever since the start of the year the team has been shattering the glass ceilings.

A year where the biggest turnaround EVER occured in the regular season. A year where the first team since way back when in 01' to sweep the Texas triangle. Where the doubters were proven wrong to the tune of 20something-5 win/loss against the West and it wasn't just a favorable schedual. A year when the two best players in the NBA, Lebron and Kobe, were shut down by a defense that is put up there with some of the best of the modern era with DET of 04'. A year where the story that is KG's turns for the best. The year where Ray can get what he finally deserves. And a year where the ultimate celtic.. the man who took all the crap during the down years, rose the Celtics in 01' for that record breaking comeback to only BE APART of the team's greatest comeback in the finals. Paul Pierce, dueling against the basketball gods of Kobe and Lebron... and winning! A year of having to fight that hard in rounds 1,2,3 and the Finals.

A year that never happens.. where the impossible was made possible. The stuff of legend and lore...

And we were there for every second of it.

But alas it's only 3-1 in the Finals. And I'm getting ahead of myself. But I'm sorry I can't help it... i'm in awe.

I'm with you man. I can't stop thinking about this. I am uncontrollably happy. I just want to spend the next week with Celtics fans if we win this.

I'm guessing you meant Rasheed Wallace, because I remember that vividly before the season started. When someone asked if the Celtics were a contender, he said they needed to cocentrate on trying to make the playoffs, because he's never seen a team go from 24 wins to making the playoffs. That made the ECF win that much sweeter.

Legendary? Keep in mind the Celts history. Winning one title doesn't make this a "legendary season". The turnaround theyve had has been tremendous but i wouldn't use the term "legendary", maybe epic.

Keep in mind the Celtics of the past 22 years... it doesn't get much more legendary than this, I don't care how many titles we own, that does NOT take away from this season.

This is one of the greatest seasons in NBA history, for any team in any era.

this season couldn't be any better for me. Think of this board is we were down 3-1. We would have 5 draft threads about who we are taking with the second to last pick. Another 10 crazy trade threads. Stuff would be flying all over the place. Fire doc. DA cant fire doc because they are golfing buddies.

Think of how lucky as fans of the BOS Celtics we are.

I'm excited too. But I'm trying to control my emotions. We still have one for to win. I'm not talking trash because I don't want to jinx anything. One more win.

Return to Boston Celtics
