Which Celtics are not under contract next year?
Eddie House
James Posey
Leon Powe
are they or no, just this year?
What about Allen and Garnet- how many years under contract with us?
After this year I'd like to see us stay with most of the same guys - Pj may even stay ....

Good bye, Tony, Pollard and Cassel and most likley brown. We can find better replacements for the first 3 and hopefully for the 4th, we need to use our midlevel really wisley becuase we are going to need to add 1 signifigent piece to stay competitve next year....assuming we close this thing out, and thats not a super safe assumption till it happens

Stu: How big was James Posey last night?? And will he be back next year? Bob Ryan: James Posey has been magnificent of late. Had the Celtics found a way to win Game 3, which was certainly in their grasp, we would have written posies about Posey. In Game 4 he was everything Pat Riley told the Boston media earlier this season he would be in the playoffs. If there is even the slightest hint of James Posey heading for another destination next year, we should set up road blocks as every major artery leading in and out of Boston, plus put a 24-hour guard at Logan. Have I made myself clear? Boston Globe

See ya Sammie and PJ....thanks for the help.
Veal looms largely in our future. What a sweet deal he got.
Perk remains a bargain for a biggie so if you add Perk to Scals salary and divide by one rather than two, it doesn't hurt so bad, better yet add Leon to the deal, you get Leon and Perk for about 9 mill (again forgetting Brini) and it feels a little better.

I see that Tony is up for a "qualifying offer" according to Hoopshype. Does this mean that he is gone if Boston doesn't make him the offer? Or does this mean he plays out that final year and then becomes an unrestricted Free Agent?
Also - if Posey opts out, since Boston does not have his Bird rights would the Celtics have to use their MLE to resign him, seeing as how they are over the cap?
Unless someone can say definitively otherwise, I think that Allen is around next year no matter what and that the Celts will have to dip into the MLE to keep Posey. I could be wrong and hopefully I am.

u guys should try to keep house for a reasonable price. plus a draft pick. plus good free agents. u guys should look at kelenna azibuike from the warriors...solid 6'5 shooting gaurd that rebounds really well. he just opted out

Azibuike would probably not want to come here to be the 4th wing for not as much money as he can make elsewhere. Would love it if it did happen but somehow I doubt it.
The key is going to be Posey. If he opts out we may decide to retain TA as a safety blanket. (Qualifying offer means that if we offer him that much he becomes a restricted free agent and if we don't he's unrestricted if I remember correctly.) Once we figure out our backup wing situation we can look to cover our two big holes (C,PG) in FA with the MLE. Probably looking at ring chasing veterans. I think they'll focus more on the PG as we've been exposed all playoff long in that area. Pick 30 will probably be either a >6'8 big or a wing if we only kept Posey.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'd let Tony go. If Posey doesn't exercise his option, fantastic, the Celtics can get quality players with the MLE. If he does, he's probably earned the full MLE and the Celts will have to use the LLE to add a PG or C. This could cost us Eddie.
