Full Rebuild Commit

Post#1 » by daddyfivestar » Sat Jun 14, 2008 3:31 am

Assuming Brand and Maggette are out the door...

Out: Brand / 7
In: 2 (Beasley) / Matt Carroll / Mark Blount / Charlotte 09 1st

Out: Maggette / Char 09 1st
In: TJ Ford / 17 (guard or wing, Batum? Budinger?)

Blow it up and get what you can.

Ford/Livingstn
Mobley/Carroll/17
Thorntn/Ross
Beasley/Thomas/Powell
Kaman/Blount/Davis

Neither of these trades are to the Clippers advantage, you have mixed Charlotte into the trade as well as Miami in trade one.

Trade two has with the Raptors the Clippers giving up too much for TJ Ford, there would be no need for the Clippers to give up Charlotte's #1 in 2009 + Maggette for TJ Ford and #17, Maggette alone would be enough.

So Brand and Maggette opting out and signing with other teams is more of an advantage? Ok, lots of cap room for nobody to sign ex Tim Thomas types...and no Beasley/Thornton owning the front court for a decade.

Uhhh, yeah Charlotte is in part of a Brand trade... That's how the $$ work for all.

As for
Maggette (per 36): 22.3pts/5.7reb/2.7ast/1.0stl/2.8tov
T J Ford (per 36): 18.1pts/3.0reb/9.4ast/1.6stl/3.1tov

I'd say it's fairly even, Ford just needs to be the main guy and not share time or be injured. In case you don't feel like looking it up, Ford is also 3 1/2 yrs younger than Maggette.
That's why it is called total rebuild.

Signing Gilbert Arenas should be the Clippers top priority. I expect Maggs & Brand to opt-out and I say the hell with them, lets get younger and have that play making PG. We could easily do a sign & trade for Arenas using Livingston as the bait.

No explanation as to what Charlotte is receiving - they are giving up Carroll and 09 #1.

Brand and #7 goes to Miami, Maggette and Charlotte 09 #1 to Toronto, TJ Ford, Blount, Beasley and #17 to Clippers.
