Elton Brand still undecided.

Post#1 » by theFRANCHISE » Sat Jun 14, 2008 6:27 am

wow I wouldve thought BRAND would be a clipper for life, but I guess he's looking his options over. I think Riley would be all over this guy trying to get him somehow.

Brand
Haslem
Marion
Wade
Rose

thats definitely a monster team in the east if the bulls select beasley and if brand decides to opt out...

Do we reallly want him at C? Next to Haslem?

Pounded.

Not to mention the complete lack of floor spacing in that line-up. Brand is the best shooter. That's mad!

blount,bank,re-sign Jason Williams for um 5 million
would do the trick

seriously Brand really look like he want to stay in LA
maybe he just saying all the right things at the moment...

Carlos Boozer is in play in my opinion 09
Beasley can become a all-star

Fun facts :
- The Miami Heat surpassed the Knicks in championships
- Only the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and Spurs have more championships

Boozer, in one important way, would be better than Brand. He's younger. Brand, of course, is the far better defender and shot blocker...

Boozer is a more healthy then Brand

Brand the better player but can he win it all in the West
as a Clipper.Do Brand feel the team is going in the right
direction.

I don't know if the Heat will ever win another Champion
But what i do know is Riley will put his best foot forward TRYING..

There are 2 ways we can acquire Brand this offseason:
1. Marion opts out, we sign Brand to max dea
2. Marion opts in, Brand threatens to sign with a team like MEM, unless the Clips agree to a S&T with Miami. He also says that he will not accept a S&T to MEM, so the only way LAC will get anything back is if they agree to a S&T with us

I wonder what type of money the Clippers a historically very cheap franchise are offering for an extension right now. There's no way they're offering the max (roughly 18 mil to start, 125 million over 6 years or so). It probably depends how much they're low balling him.

OK, I know this is more random trade thread, but what if we choose Beasley (assuming Rose is gone) and Clips choose Eric Gordon (if he can translate to PG) or Brook Lopez w/ #6. Then...

We trade rights to Marion, Blount, Beasley for rights Brand, Maggette, their pick.

They get cheaper PF option and either lose the salary of Marion anyway if he opts out between the draft and June 30 or they play it out and keep or trade him. They build around Beasley cheaper since they won't pay high for Brand or Maggette. We then have luxury of letting these guys opt in and play for new contract or opt out and give us space. Then if needed, Haslem to Griz for PG, etc.

Gordon or Mem PG
Wade
Maggette
Brand
Lopez or MLE

I think that if Riley is really looking for us to compete ASAP, then two Rookies in the starting line up might not be the best idea.
Also, I agree that Boozer would be the better option than Brand, just because Boozers a bit bigger, younger and we know he can play with another star. Plus, having both our superstars just coming off of an injury ridden season might not be in our best interests either.

Brand over Boozer any day....

Boozers defense is what we fear Beasleys defense could turn out to be..

I dont mind trading the #2 for Brand. Brand is who Riles wanted back when we had cap space. Blount, Banks, and the #2 for Brand should be enough. Get it done Riles.

Return to Miami Heat
