Suggestions (Quick reply, quotes, "post review")

Post#1 » by Posey H8er » Sun Jun 15, 2008 3:36 pm

I actually like the new changes to the boards. But I have a few suggestions. You need to bring back the quick reply. It eliminates more unnecessary page loads to post.

Also, is there a way the quotes can be brought back to be solid white boxes? It's easier to distinguish what was written.

And finally the "post review," where if you press submit and someone else has already posted, you must press submit again. This will become very annoying in game threads in larger boards.

Hopefully the site works fine on the NBA Draft.

If anyone else has some suggestions, feel free to add.

I agree with the quotes thing. The quote box is the same colour as the reply box so you can't really make out the quote too easily.

Also, things appear to be too compacted when you're viewing a board. It just looks too "busy" with all the information given. I like the fonts and all, but just suggesting to space it out better to make it easier on the eyes.

Totally agree on the quick reply.

I don't have a huge problem with the new layout. Sure it'll take some getting use to, but it's not bad at all.

But the quick reply is essential. Posting in game threads especially will be far more of a hassle without it.

saying what board you are affilated with would be awesome. it'd be cool to also have a "favorite boards" feature (it can take the place of that slideshow) where you can list up to 5 boards, so people don't have to navigate through all these sections in order to get to a few boards they look at.

Before you could click on the number of the posts in a certain thread and it would show who had posted the most in that thread. Is there a chance that feature will return?

When threads go longer than 5 pages, we used to be able to type in the page number we would like to start reading the thread at. It was very beneficial for large threads with many posts, like game threads and draft threads. That way we can start reading where we left off. I would like to see that feature back.

As well, i think some posters would benefit from a "spell-check" feature. I don't know how complicated it would be to introduce, but i think it would add to the forums.

I use Mozilla and it makes a mark when I spell something incorrectly.

I agree with you that the "type in page number" feature should be back.

Aside from the lay out another thing I don't like is the Index Page where everything is put into little subsections. It does make it neater, but it takes a lot longer to switch boards with a lot more clicking having to be done to navigate through everything. The way the old Index Page was set up just made going through realgm quicker and more efficient.

All great suggestions

i think that team colors for individual team forums would be pretty cool.

as well as changing the layout of the threads psoted....now its kind of hard to tell compared to how it was to see which threads have new posts in them.

That needs to change back.

i like the fact how you can report people now and get a message back if it has been dealt with or not.

quick reply is a must....honestly...if there is no quick reply..i will probably just stop posting...because i hate having to click post reply for every time i want to post.

these changes are good for the future...but need alot of work still

This is just a little nitpick, but I think there should be a little border or something around the post so that it is more clearly seperated from the header information.

I am used to the look; and I understand QuickReply will return. but...................

TOO MANY GOD DAMNED LINKS LOOK TOO SIMILAR!

Eliminate many of the useless links or bold and increase the size of links that return you to forum links. I like to go between the Jazz forum, the Trade Forum, the General NBA to the Packer board and the OT boards quickly. I don't need RealGM support or User control or view your posts often. These should be available but not as prominent. Getting from postable forum to postable forum quickly is key.

I am starting to get the sceme now. All sports boards have the same OT boards at the bottom. They don't show post info until you get there. I can dig that. Things are working out A-OK. Change is good.

Post review is dumb. I can't make a freaking post in the finals game 6 thread because there are ALWAYS new posts.

PLEASE get rid of it.

Agreed. Post review is annoying and needs to go.

There is a limit for images (they cannot be larger than 525 pixels). A while back there was no limit which was bad because often people would post large images and it would frustratingly widen the pages. But then RGM put in an automatic image-size reducer, where it reduced the size of images that were too large. Is it possible to bring back that feature?

Thanks.

Is anyone else having their posts eaten? It's happened to me a lot -- I'll post something, and it'll just redirect me to that thread without actually adding my post.
