Who is most likely to slip to pick 16?

Post#1 » by The Sixer Fixer » Sun Jun 15, 2008 6:48 pm

Since there is always a player or two who slip much farther than they are expected to, I was curious to see who people think that could be this year.

All of these players are "expected" to be gone by most of the "draft experts" when the Sixers draft at 16. I bet 1 or 2 of them are actually still on the board at 16. Who do you think will drop?

I excluded Rose, Beasley, Mayo, Bayless and Gordon since there is virtually no chance any of those 5 slip. I don't think there's much chance B. Lopez or Love slip that far either, but I would not be totally shocked so I included them. Arthur was a guy a lot of people had gone before our pick, but more and more I'm seeing him there at 16 so I didn't put him in the poll.

I vote none.

One of these guys could slip to #14, but none of these players will be there at 16.

although there are a few teams who could use a fresh young PG, i think augustine will slip because of his size and the consideration that he doesnt have much potential to explode into a superstar

I'd have to agree I think. I didn't vote for him though. I voted for Randolph in some sick hope that the NBA ignores the freak athlete that stinks just once.

Yeah I didn't vote for anyone either. All these players should be gone, and players taht are still good, but could actually drop down aren't even listed...

You should have included Arthur/Speights/Love/Greene/McGee...etc...

Most of those (with the exception are love) are slated to go around 16. That wouldn't really be slipping.

Of the ones originally posted, I think Westbrook could slip. Augustin as well, obviously.

Jordan's stock sounds like it has been falling like a rock. Augustine would be my second choice, both may well be gone by 16, but if someone drops it would appear to one of thse two. I favor Jordan dropping because there are a lot more big men who are supposedly working out very well, as opposed to Jordan who is not. Augustine has little competition at PG once Rose and Westbrook are gone and Westbrook's stock is rising creating more of a PG vacuum behind him.

I think you missed the point I was trying to make with the poll. The objective was to see which player you think is most likely to SLIP to 16. Slip obvioulsy is the key word. The guys you listed are expected, by most of the experts, to still be there at 16 or maybe go 1-2 picks before 16 (except for Love). The guys I listed in the poll are all expected, by nearly every expert to be gone when pick 16 is on the clock. When you factor that I excluded 5 guys who have no shot to be there at 16, my poll basically accounts for 13 players. So it would only take 1 of those guys dropping a few spots to be there with our pick. That's not completely out of the question to happen. Every year there's a few picks that make people scratch their head and say "wow, I didn't think he would go that high". Due to that, a couple guys slip every year beyond where all the "experts" expected them to go.

I noted in my post why Arthur wasn't listed. He seems to have already slipped to the point where it's about 50/50 on whether or not he will be there at 16. That excluded him since the odds are faily good he might still be there. Also, Love is listed in my poll so I think maybe you meant R. Lopez?

As far as saying "None" to the poll, it wasn't a question "Which player WILL slip to 16". I asked "Which player is MOST LIKELY to slip to 16". That would mean "None" really isn't an option unless you have those 8 guys I listed rated exactly the same. The end result could be that you truly don't see any being there at 16, but you should still have some type of rating for which of the 8 you think will be the last guy off the board.

I don't think any of them will slip to 16 but out of all I could see Jordan slipping to us

Does anyone here think Ibaka is a reach at 16?

I think Ibaka is too much of a reach.
...
Several mocks now have Jordan Dropping to 19-21 (Chad Ford says 21.)
He is dropping for a reason, but would he be the right choice to try and develop as a back-up and eventual replacement Sam.

Having a legit NBA body as a center is no guarantee for success, but its not a bad start.
...
I am starting to feel that we will end up drafting Koufos. I'm not sold on the pick- but I think it will happen.

I really don't think any of them will be there. But Jordan could slip if one of the other bigs such as speights or mcgee start skyrocketing up teams boards.

Great idea.... Wrong list, IMO.

Westbrook may go as high as 6. Definitely not slipping past 8... Love, Lopez, Gallinari, Augustine and Alexander are all virtual locks as lottery picks.... Your collection of players does not even represent a remotely, similar range. I understand your concept, but..... Poll might be more intriguing with such realistic names as:

DeAndre Jordan
Mareese Speights
Darrell Arthur
Anthony Randolph

These are the players we're considering as the most likely candidates to slip to 16. Book it.

Possible realistic reaches: JJ Hickson, Roy Hibbert, Jason Thompson...

ps. Ibaka has always been my man, but PHI ain't going that direction. Because he's a project, they would've worked him out otherwise.
