Post#1 » by Smooth32 » Mon Jun 16, 2008 1:20 am

Just thought I would let you guys know, if you haven't found out by now, that the 76'ers will be sharing a new NBADL team with the Cleveland Cavaliers called the Erie Bayhawks for next year and on...

That's great I was wondering why we didn't have our own NBDL team. But I did hear an announcer this season say that one of those NBDL teams from last season was a Sixers affiliate. I think the team that Lou Williams was sent down to a couple seasons ago. Jason Smith should have been a NBDL player with frequent call ups instead of a fulltime bench player with limited minutes.

We have always had an affiliate, this is noting new. Every NBA team has an NBDL team they are "assigned to". The only thing different here is that this one is actually semi-local.

As far as I know, only 2 NBA teams have "their own" NBDL team...they are the Spurs and Lakers. Since they own the teams, they get to dictate all aspects of them. They have complete say over the systems run, the players, coaches, etc. Much more like a true minor league system where you actually can control the player development.

This is good to know. I agree with SendEm, Smith definitely needs to be on this development squad, and should have played on a minor team last year. If Carney's game hasn't gotten better, I'd like to see him on the team also.
