I love Rondo, but I've been on him ALL PLAYOFFS about passing WIDE-OPEN SHOTS. The final straw was tonight when he drove to the hoop in the 1st with NO DEFENDERS THERE and went up to the rim...and passed it out to Paul for a 3. *I* could have made that layup, Rondo. (He also had some **** HORRID passes)

Doc needs to sit him down and say, "if you do that one more time, you will not play"

I felt MUCH better with House out there last night...he spreads the floor and takes the open looks. Once Rondo does that, he'll be fine but until then, he's frustrating, even with all the other good stuff he does.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

If I were Danny, I'd look at moving Rondo in the offseason. With the aging Big 3, we're in no position to have a PG that is learning on the job.

Unless your name is Jason Kidd, you'll never be a great PG in this league without the ability to shoot the ball. Unfortunately, Rondo will never have the PG skills of Kidd.

I thought that when this series started that the longer it lasted, the worse our chances got to win it. Phil Jackson can make significant adjustments as any series progresses. Our coach has been doing a fine job in the playoffs, but he's no match for Phil. The Lakers figured out a way to neutralize Rondo during the comeback they had (which fell short) in Game 2, and they've exploited it in their two wins and in most of Game 4 until their odd collapse and amazing momentum shift.

We have a weakness at PG - and other weaknesses to exploit, but it's not a *fatal* weaknesses.

If KG-Pierce-Allen are all on their game - they can win with just about anybody at PG and Center - but we need all three of them to be on their game. If our 3 are not "on", and Kobe, Gasol, Odom and the other Lakers are, then we'll lose.

This series will not be won or lost by Rondo, Perk, or any of the role players - it'll be won or lost by our stars. They have to step it up and win the series.

It's winnin' time, and we need our primary guys to *win* the game. No coasting into the finish line... homecourt should help, but our big three need to play like it.

We have yet to see the best out of our team in these playoffs. That both scares me and gives me much hope at the same time.

A 2nd year PG playing with a new team in his first playoff series is... gasp... inconsistent?

really, who'd a thunk it????

anyone who wants to throw Rondo under a bus and trade him is nucking futs. he's a championship winning PG in his 2nd year. he's improved leaps and bounds from year 1 to year 2. he's 22 years old. he's only going to get better.

Rondo is an interesting cat. Over on CelticsBlog they had this crazed Rondo fan who continually posted about how he was such a superior PG. Now of course that talk has died down. But he does have his strengths. He has amazing long arms, amazing quickness, he plays very hard and he is totally unselfish.

That being said if there is one thing Phil Jackson did right is that at times he took advantage of the Rondo matchup and it really hurt the team. Almost no coach was able to do that in the regular season. He made Rondo look BAD at times. He made his lack of a jumpshot a real liability for stretches.

But with his strengths you have to keep him as your starting PG. I would love to see us get another more offensive minded PG to back him up. A Monta Ellis type would be ideal. Gabe Pruitt has looked quite good in his scant minutes but I have no idea if he really is the answer.

1. Rondo should be a senior in college this year. I mean, c'mon. He's still a baby.

2. He can shoot now, at least more than last year. He just doesn't want to, which is another problem. Last night, Doc told him to be more aggressive. Maybe that's what you do for his confidence, in the short term. He's so young, and surrounded by these intimidating all-stars, that it's hard for him to look for his own game. So until he builds up his own resume, tell him that he has to shoot. Coach's orders.

3. We are obviously a much better team when he is aggressively shooting. It doesn't matter if he goes 2-12. When he is driving and going crazy around the basket, he breaks down other teams' defenses. Spaces and opportunities are created that were not there before. And, because he's involved in the game, his energy level is up and he does his thing on the defensive end.

I can't wait to see this guy in 5-10 years. He is going to be a huge part of our team.
