Looks like Shan Foster impressed Scott the most on the first day. They'll also hold workouts on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
With the NBA draft two weeks away, former Bonnabel High School and Vanderbilt standout Shan Foster and Gonzaga guard Jeremy Pargo were among six prospects to participate in the Hornets' first predraft workout Tuesday at the New Orleans Arena.
They each gave impressive performances, but Foster' perimeter shooting caught Hornets Coach Byron Scott's attention. The Hornets have the 27th pick in the first round and are likely to use it to fill a backup need at shooting guard, power forward/center or point guard.
The Hornets are coming off their best season in franchise history with 56 victories and their first Southwest Division title before being eliminated in seven games in the second round of the playoffs by the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.
"We think (starter) Mo Peterson did a heck of a job, but we really need a shooting guard that's really athletic and can get up and down the floor," Scott said.
Foster played four seasons at Vanderbilt and was selected SEC Player of the Year this past season after averaging 20.3 points and shooting 46.3 percent from 3-point range. Foster is projected to be a late first-round or early second-round pick.
"He can flat out shoot it, and he moves extremely well without the ball," Scott said. "He has a very high, good IQ on the basketball court, knows how to play. He was pretty good all the way around, but when we went three-on-three, he was even better. So that was very exciting just to see this kid come out and play.
"When you get MVP or Player of the Year in the SEC, that says a lot, as well. It holds a lot because you know he's probably basketball-ready, especially for the NBA."
Besides Foster and Pargo, Arkansas shooting guard Sonny Weems, Brigham Young power forward Trent Plaisted, Ohio State power forward Othello Hunter and Hofstra shooting guard Antoine Agudio participated in Tuesday's workout.

Great work Copperhead, thanks for keeping tabs on this, much news coming out about these workouts?
Malik Hairston looks interesting, good feel for the game, nice court vision, good bball IQ, defense needs work though.
They've bought in alot of point guards, I really don't think the Hornets will draft a PG, too much responsability for a late first rounder considering where this team is at and the role he'll need to fill keeping our bench unit productive.

Re: OFFICIAL Hornets workout thread
^^ Every year the Hornets seem to be kind of hush hush on their workout prospects. They don't give out too much info on who they're bringing in and they don't give out much info on how the workouts went. Personally I think they're going to bring in the guy (s) they're most serious about in for a workout closer to draft day. I'm curious as to who they'll bring in this week. They don't have much time left to look at these guys. Scott seemed to like Courtney Lee. I'm wondering if there's a workout scheduled for Chris Douglas-Roberts since a few mock drafts have him going at #27.

Re: OFFICIAL Hornets workout thread
For how good this team is, I wish there were more posters on this board.
As far as all of those players go, I can see the Hornets trading with a team like Minnesota or Portland and drafting a kid like Jamont Gordon and then going for BPA with the other 2nd round pick. Maybe a kid like Sonny Weems, who is a good catch-&-shooter. If Ryan Anderson is there, take him.
I can see the Hornets going for someone like Kelenna Azubuike in free agency, so maybe fringe PG, like Gordon, and either an impact type with potential like Anderson or a Euro who can play next to Hilton Armstrong in a couple of years.

Re: OFFICIAL Hornets workout thread
I guess that's pretty much it for the workouts. CDR worked out today. Says CP is his guy. Says he's a part of his 'extended family'. You can listen to his along with some other post workout audios by clicking on the Audio Archives as well as read some of their comments. A few of them mentioned how great it would be to play with CP. Mario Chalmers said he is his favorite player.
