Other Interests at #16
Beside Greene and Speights at 16, who else could we be looking at if we stay there? The article on Kosta Koufus gives him a strong write up about being a good offensive player with good range and shooting from the hig post which would complement Thad in the post. Also Brandon Rush stock is rising, could he be the answer for our 2 guard spot if Iggy does not want to resign for a "reasonable " amount of money. Who else would you like to see come # 16?

I think the two of you have nailed the likely suspects. Bigs - Speights, Koufos and Hickson. Jordan might be available here, he seems to be free falling. Shooters - Donte Green and Rush, maybe Courtney Lee. Buddinger might have been an option here if he did not withdraw from the draft. I would not mind most of these guys, Koufos is not a favorite of mine, but his offensive skills would complement Sammy pretty well and you can't have too many talented seven footers.
Guys I don't want us to grab at 16 - McGee, Arthur, the second Lopez twin and I'm not really a fan of Batum.

Javale McGee. I don't draft guys like Jason Thompson in the draft. Never, guys like him are late first round draft picks. NBA-ready games with little potential to improve. I draft the Javale McGee's. McGee has a pheneomonal amount of potential. I love him alot more then I do Speights. A presense in the middle and excellent man-on-defender. Has some post moves and on the next level can pass out of the double-team. Speights desire not to bang down in the low block reminds me of Chris Webber after the injury. Give me McGee, NOW.

Where do you get that from? The guy is supposed to live down low and be a true back to the basket PF and always be on attack.

I really like Koufos at 16. The guy has a ton of experience already between playing with Greece and playing college ball. He's young enough to still improve alot, but I think he'll be able to contribute some in his Rookie year. He'll give offense, something the sixers need bad, and he's not a bad defender.
I have NO interest in McGee. Everywhere I go, I read articles on how he has not impressed, yet the rumor is the sixers like him. This gives me a little pause for concern. How often do Big men from Middle majors make it in the NBA? Kaman is one, but I can't think of many more.

Serge Ibaka would be my pick for 16.... You cant ask for anything more then someone like him at 16... Yes he isnt ready atm, but if he developes he could be one of the top 5 guys out of this draft. He has huge upside. I rather pick someone with huge upside that could be allstar type player then picking a role player.
I also dont think 16 is to high for him, if you think he is going to go somewhere between 16 and 25 you dont risk losing out on the player you want by doing a trade and moving back. He has more upside then anyone out of the top 3 in this draft. Take him at 16 and be happy you got him.

Based on the obvious fit, I'd have to take Speights, as he's 6'10 and 250 lbs and from a physical standpoint, exactly what we need at the 4.
Based on all-around upside, I'd say Greene probably has the biggest chance of turning into a star-calibre player.
Based on pure athleticism, I'd say Ibaka probably has the most upside.
It's really hard to pick one until you've spoken with them, watched them play in person, gotten into their heads a little. You've got to see if these guys are driven. Fortunately, I really trust DiLeo when it comes to this.

I agree on McGee and I think the idea that the Sixers want him is blown out of proportion. They said he had a good workout and said other nice things about him, but he worked out with a very weak group here, it was early in the workout schedule and teams won't publicly say a guy sucked in his workout. They may like him with a later first round pick they might acquire, but I don't think he's a serious contender at 16. He supposedly has been consistently outplayed by other bigs in his workouts, not a good sign.
Looking at this draft the one unfortunate thing for the Sixers is their draft position. The teams ahead of them, Phoenix (15) and Golden State (14) and to a lesser extent, Portland (13), covet the same kinds of players the Sixers need, mobile big men and shooters. Jumping up to 11 or 12 should not be too expensive and would be a good idea if the team has identified someone they really like.

I like Ibaka a lot. I would like to get an extra pick, so we can pick up a another front court player. If Speights is off the board to Phoenix at 15, the 76ers could go to Thompson, or McGee, However ,the 76ers need to show some creativity in adding another mid ist round pick and pick up Ibaka. If I read Ed's list right, I would say it's Speights, McGee, Thompson and Ibaka. In fact it might be Thompson 2nd and McGee 3rd.
Ibaka should become a top flight defender in a short period of time. He does not have the smoothest shot. He is clearly a plus.

Re: Other Interests at #16
Serge Ibaka? No man is gonna pick up basketball LATE in Africa, play professionally in Europe, then come straight to the NBA and NOT be a bust. He is not going to be able to learn the NBA game at it's highest level while playing professionally. If he played college basketball, that is one thing, but this guy played Euro ball. Euro bigs stink. Euro basketball stinks. This guy's mistake as a player was NOT playing college basketball. He made a GREAT decision as a business man NOT to play college basketball so that it would be more difficult for scouts to evaluate him against physical players and a smaller painted area. He's a tremendous dunker. I would love to see him join the AND1 streetball team, however I would hate for the Sixers to draft him.

The two players I'm locked in on are Arthur (1) and Speights (1a)... I would be completely satisfied if we walked away with either of those players and did nothing else on draft night...
Ever since I saw Arthur play, there's something fluid and natural about his game that I think translates well to the NBA level... He rebounds well, was effective even though he wasn't the primary focus of the offense and shared the scoring responsibilities with several others...
If Arthur and Speights are gone, I'd consider Hickson or BPA if someone worthy fell, but would likely look to move down and accumulate picks...
I have no interest in Saer O'Bryant (Ibaka) or Patrick Sene (Jordan) at 16... McGee is intruiging, but not that high...
