I really liked last summers line up of Kidd, Bryant, Anthony, James, and Howard.

The Bench

C/PF Stoudemire
F Prince
F/G Miller
G Redd
G Paul

C/PFChandler
G Williams

Prince is a must for this team, imo. He's long and is used to guarding out on the floor. From what I've seen these foreign teams don't have big bruising back to the basket power forwards. Guys like Lebron and Prince will be much more suited to guard them than Bosh, Chandler, or Amare. Miller and Redd are the shooters that we need. And Paul is clearly a better player than Kidd at this point, but he may work better with the second unit.

I don't know why so many people are picking Paul to start. I highly doubt he will start. J-Kidd has the experience and chemistry of this team. Yes he has gotten one year older from last year, but I believe he can still lead this team and it would be perfect for Paul to back him up. Kidd would be the best fit in the starting lineup IMO.

The team I would send

5) Dwight Howard/Tyson Chandler
4) LeBron James/Amare Stoudemire
3) Carmelo Anthony/Joe Johnson/Tayshun Prince
2) Kobe Bryant/Dwyane Wade/Mike Miller
1) Jason Kidd/Chris Paul

This team has several play makers and shooters who would mesh well together. They have slashers and big men who can score and they have very good defensive players in guys like Kobe and Tayshun. This team would surely bring back the gold medal.

I saw on the bottom line of espn, Ric Bucher was reporting Billups will not participate in the Olympics because of personal reasons.
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

That pretty much guarantees the point guard rotation of Kidd/Paul/Williams.

Chis Sheridan said Michael Redd is a lock to make the Olympic team.

I wonder who they are going to bring in for the "select team", which is going to scrimmage against Team USA? My guess is some combo of Durant, Roy, Oden (if Portland allows it), maybe a Rudy Gay or Josh Smith?

Prediction:

Kidd/Paul/Williams
Kobe/Redd
LeBron/Prince
Melo/Boozer
Howard/Bosh

and probably Wade... book it.

First thing that coach K should do is to assign roles.
Everyone can't be the go to scorer or the main ball handler, and the players need to understand that.
If they don't they will have problems again.
They can't play like an all star team if they want to win, sure playing that way is ok for lesser teams but not when it comes to the important matches in the semi finals and finals.

I was hoping Howard wouldn't log heavy minutes. Boozer will be completely ineffective against a lot of the quicker, undersized centers we're playing. They won't stop him either, granted, but he'll surrender more points than anyone else on the team.
