I wonder if Lakers fans will use their Finals appearance as bragging rights .. ?

I came from another Suns forum (ESPN; yea, the quality is bad there) and all Lakers fans did was brag about this. They just lost by 40, I'm not sure I'd be bragging much about this appearance.

No more so than the Suns fans using "Western Conference Finals" appearances as bragging rights. We didn't win, they didn't win, it doesn't matter when you lose really, it only matters when you win the Finals. :(
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed

The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

There is one other thing that is also important, and that is how you play the game effort wise. The Lakers staight up folded! Reminds me of the Mavs-Heat series. And as far as I am concerned, Kobe just lamented his legacy!

really? did you watch the Lakers-Spurs series? the Hornets and Suns both beat the Spurs team that didn't show up against the Lakers! The Spurs were done after stealing their series from the Hornets.

I think we need to shut up about this...Lakers have achieved more this year than we have over the past 4.

WOOT WOOT!
Kobe pulled a 2006 Dirk!

KG deserved the finals MVP tho, he led the team in scoring and rebounding thru-out the series, along with exellent defense.

Doesn't matter, the finals MVP voting's primary factor isn't supposed to be cutchness.
It's just supposed to go to the player who did the best overall job thru-out the series, which was KG.

I would have voted for the Truth.

I don't think KG gives a rats about MVP right now though.

Very sweet to see the Lakers crushed and humiliated in historic fashion last night. I think it's fair to gloat for a day or two about how epic their loss was. Having said that, however, the Lakers still had a much better season than we did, so it's not like we have bragging rights or anything.

And I still don't buy this "if you don't win, everything else is irrelevant" BS. Absolutely it makes a difference that the Lackers got walloped in the biggest clinching blowout in NBA history. That's a lot worse and less impressive than if they'd gone down in a tough battle, and barely come up short. Going out with so little heart in such a gutless fashion will probably taint this (otherwise excellent) season for the Lakers' fans quite a bit. Think back on the 05-06 season (when Amare was out). We didn't win the championship, but does remembering that year leave a sour taste in your mouth? Of course not. Because that was a team to be proud of -- they scratched and clawed and got farther than anyone expected. And when they finally did lose, they went down fighting, and Dallas needed everything they had to win. I'd take that over this year's piss-poor effort any day.

And absolutely it makes a difference how far you go in the playoffs. News flash: Winning a playoff series is better than losing it. Winning two playoff series is better than winning just one. Winning three is even better, and of course, winning four is the best of all. Think back to how you felt when the Suns beat the Grizzlies, Mavericks, Lakers, Clippers, and Lakers again. It was pretty good, wasn't it? You got the joy of knowing that your team's season was still going on, even though almost everyone else's wasn't. That joy means nothing? I call BS. "Oh sure, we had mind-blowing sex, but she didn't get pregnant, so who cares?" You think you'd feel the same now if the Suns had missed the playoffs the last 4 years instead of what actually happened? That's ridiculous.

Did you even watch the series. The MVP was easily Pierce. He played good D on Kobe all series. Averaged 21.8 points to KG's 18.2. Imagine if Pierce's injury in game 1 had been serious would the celtics have won the series. No way.

Well, since the Suns couldn't win, I guess the consolation prize of the Lakers getting thrashed will have to do
I got a grandmother, a couple of uncles, and a brother that lives and breathes Lakers.....
I wouldn't have made it through the offseason if Kobe got that ring :censored:

Congrats Boston

Eh, Yahoo has their stats fu*ked up then, cuz according to them KG averaged 20.4 PPG and leads in scoring.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/playoffs/lalbos

WTF!

So now I checked out NBA.COM and they say that KG put up 18.2/13.2/3.... and Pierce put up 21.3/4.5/6.3

Anyways, Pierce's injury drama in game 1 was some oscar worthy acting complete with wheelchair and all. He obviously wasn't as hurt as his cryin made it look.
He was funnest guy to watch with his clutch buckets, and since his acted up heroics made a fun watch, but I liked KG's overall impact on the team better.
Of course the Celts wuda been screwed w/o Pierce, but they'd have been even worse off without KG (meaning no interior presence) then without Pierce.

Totally agree. I hate when somebody says we didn't achieve anything in 4 years. And I agree also on the "it also depends on how you lose" part. I think that's really the key. "On any given sunday you can either win or lose. The question is: can you win or lose like a man?".

Man....I just want to experience that feeling of euhporia just once, you know? We've been so close...and seeing Rondo/KG/House put their hats on....I feel as though we should have had those players :/.

Dream scenario if we can go back in time:

Amare for KG
KT+Picks for Gasol
and then if Marion still wants out, do the Shaq trade and start KG at the 3.

Nash
Bell
KG
Gasol
Shaq

Sigh.

I think KT would have been involved in the Amare-KG swap, for cap purposes. Maybe we could have thrown in Barbosa + filler instead, but either way:

Nash/ Barbosa
Bell/ DJ
Marion/ Hill
KG/ Marion
Diaw/ Skinner

or

Nash/ Hill
Bell/ DJ
Marion/ Hill
KG/ Diaw
KT/ Skinner

are solid. Sigh..
