Damn, the good news just keeps coming. Glad to see we got priority #1 taken care of. Gomes is a great role player to have when we are dominating in a couple years.

That doesn't mean crap. I'm pretty sure Ricky Davis was on the caravan last year. Wait let me check...

Yea Ricky D. AND Rex Kalamian were on that thing and they never came back. If anything this probably means Gomes is gone, taking players out on the caravan is our equivalent to asking Fredo to go fishing with us.

Ricky was still with us till like September i think. He was under contract, Gomes currently is not, so why else would he be apart of this if he wasnt planning on signing back?

I really think he's going to be back and can be a quality starter on a winning team. Right now he's my favorite player on the team and will be happy to see him back.

Yeah, if he wasn't planning on coming back, why in the world would he go on the caravan? That would make like zero sense

Seeing a lot of Boston the past few weeks makes me think Gomes will be a similar player to James Posey....a solid contributor on good teams. Once we have another stud or two like Mayo to help Al carry the load, I can see Gomes as a critical role player, sometimes having big scoring games, sometimes just doing other things like hustle plays and defense and hitting a few threes. Gomes has more bulk but I see him playing a role similar to what Posey did with Miami and now Boston. Anyone else see it?

Gomes is pretty much the same size as Artest - he's less athletic than Artest, but not by a ton. Ron didn't really start becoming a lockdown defender until his 4th or 5th year in the league. Best possible scenario for Gomes is to do the same thing.

Artest did get better through the years, but he was lockdown or pretty close from the moment he entered the league (although the handchecking policy hasn't done him many favors). Gomes doesn't have the lateral quickness or quick hands that Artest does. The athletic margin between the two is pretty wide.

Yeah, there's a gap, but that's the direction I'd like to see him go in. If the Wolves build a successful team, Gomes will have to end up being the 4th or 5th offensive option. He's got build his game up somewhere.
