RealGM Link: Orlando Draft Preview

What the Magic Do Well:
The Magic had an amazing season in their first year under Coach Stan Van Gundy.

Greatest Areas of Improvement:
Big Bodies Next To Superman
A Wing Who Can Create His Own Shot

Who’s Gone Number 22 Recently?
Over the past five years, the New Jersey Nets have fallen in love with this pick. They have made three of the past five selections at number 22, and only one of those players still remains a factor in the league.

Who Should the Magic Target?

Orlando Draft Preview

I do agree that the Magic need a wing player that can create their own shot, and said player should be a pure SG or a SG/SF combo type. And I agree that Howard needs a buddy.

Interesting reports to consider on the link. One player mentioned that has gotten no computer-ink here is Bill Walker of Kansas State. He really has not been on any radar for the #22 slot.

Walker who has a history of ACL's just recently had to pull out of his private workouts because of a tendon tear. That right there should be a major RED FLAG about Walker. Since this has happened he has dropped in every new mock draft.

Since Robin Lopez has moved up and doesn't appear that he will be around when the Magic draft another big that has moved up is Jason Thompson and should be available when the Magic pick. He started out near the bottom of the second round on every mock now almost every mock has him around the time the Magic draft. He has impressed a lot of people in the private workouts.

if Walker slips into the 2nd rd he'd totally be worth the gamble. no garunteed contracts, a cheap opportunity to see if the kid can fulfill his potential. some team will be lucky if they get that chance with him and he's able to stay healthy. even if he can't stay healthy, they don't lose much.

i'd be enticed by the Magic picking him up that late, but i'd rather us land a healthy SG and a backup PF before gambling on an injured combo wing. and even if we did land those 2 and still had the chance to add Walker, it just seems like too much to have 3 rookies on one team. although.... we will have a few spots this offseason....

what do you think? are 3 rookies too much?
