Will there be a DVD Set?

Post#1 » by tombattor » Wed Jun 18, 2008 3:42 pm

I know they already have a compilation DVD, but I'm hoping they'll produce a DVD set with all the games from the Finals and at least some of the other games throughout the playoffs, like the game 7 against the Cavs. Does anyone know anything about this?

That won't have any complete games if the reviews of the prior ones are an indication...do I have to wait 20 years for a collector's edition DVD set to come out???

I can't believe this is almost ruined for me because I DVR deleted it.

I have some of the games DVR-ed, but I can't keep them all forever. I think when the Sox won, they released a compilation DVD, then a box set with all the WS games and even all the ALCS games in 2004. Just wondering if they'll release something similar...

NBA TV eh? I hope they have the trophy presentation and everything reasonably intact - it looks like it says "NBA Basketball" from 12:30 - 3:30 AM.

I noticed that when ESPN rebroadcast game 6 of the ECF it skipped big chunks, hopefully nba tv doesn't do that. I had recorded that too because my first recording had an outage due to weather - and ultimately hanging onto that thing led to my deleting the clincher last night!!!

Yeah I DVR-ed all the wins but lost this one, I was going to buy a DVD recorder and try to copy them that way, and also dub them to VCR. Now I have to hope this NBA TV rebroadcast works out.

A little look at products on amazon.com makes me much more optimistic!

The compilation DVD set will be out shortly, and presumably like every year it will be a documentary with featurettes and maybe the 4th quarters of some games.

But - the trend the last few years is to follow up that DVD with a special edition in the fall. Last year they put out a Spurs DVD set with every finals win from all their championships; that was released in late October 2007.

The year before that there was a Heat DVD set which included EVERY game from the finals *and* ECF. That was was released in early November 2006.

The downside is, these are really expensive - marked at 99 dollars, the Spurs is marked down on amazon.com to 75, the heat one to 50. But I'll start saving towards that by skipping the DVD that's out now and waiting until the fall - it seems very safe that a nice DVD set will be out, especially considering that this was one of the most hyped finals ever and most dramatic seasons ever.

Between this, downloading the game off bittorrent, and dvr'ing *and* videotaping the NBATV replay, I feel covered and better about losing my DVR of the game! And hey, who else has 3 hours of HD footage from NBAtv on there DVR, with multiple HD copies of Scal's presser???

Did anyone purchase the Celtics championship DVD for 1986? Did that contain all of the playoffs games in their entirety or at least those of the finals?

Nice! Thanks for the research. I think those box sets would include the compilation DVD that's already out, no?
