Re: Anything is posibbleeeee!
The emotion KG showed last night was truly incredible. The Magic need someone who is a leader who wants it as bad as KG did.
KG really was right. Anything is possible and it should give hope to every team in the league. I know it sure made me feel the Magic aren't that far away considering where Boston was last year at this time.

Re: Anything is posibbleeeee!
KG extremely annoyed me.
Acting like he's been a Celtic all his life, kissing the logo on the floor. During the season he'd stick out the jersey showing off the Celtic.
He was doing that with the Wolves.
Had he been traded to the Knicks, he'd be doing the same thing. Had he been traded to Orlando, he'd be doing the same. It's devoid of meaning to me.
Now if Paul Pierce was doing that, it would be completely different for me.

But I do agree with the sentiment of we need someone with the fire and passion like him on our team.

So what, you're not allowed to exhibit team pride unless you've been with one team your entire career? If you were in KG's position, having been a consistent top-5 player for as long as he has without winning a championship, you'd pledge your life to whatever team got you that ring. Would you be pissed if Rashard did it to a Magic uniform and not the green and white of the Sonics?

Re: Anything is posibbleeeee!
Dude, I'm not even a Celtics fan and I cried. KG really deserved it. I was happy for Ray Ray, KG, and Pierce. I cannot say that I am a fan of theirs or their team (I bleed blue and white), but I have to give credit to where credit is due. They simply outplayed, outwitted, outhustled, and embarrassed L.A. Hopefully, the Magic's hunger for a ring grows stronger after seeing the Celtics who were at rock bottom last year get a ring. We still have a few kinks to work out and we will get there. Add some good veterans and learn how to draft well and maybe we will get in the Finals soon. I am glad that the championship is back in the East and we had a good team representing the East this year.

i know im in the minority here but i really hate Garnett... I dont know what is with this guy but he changed a lot this past year. I have league pass and i hate the celtics so i watch a lot of those games just to root against them and it seemed like 8 out of 10 games that i watched KG was trying to fight someone for almost no reason what so ever. Maybe this is what he is learning by playing along side Posey, i dont know.... i just know that i really dislike KG.

I didn't think any of that was fake. I don't think he acted like he had been with the Celtics his whole life either. During the interview he gave a shout out to Minnesota. His display was more about winning the championship and being successful than winning for the Celtics.

I can appreciate his years of frustration.
But I do know that if Dwight ever left us (while still in his prime) and did the very same elsewhere - first year out of Orlando - how I would feel about it. I don't think I would be the only one to feel that way. I would feel that he disrespected all the Magic fans and that previous seasons meant nothing to him.
I could be wrong and be the only one that feels this way.

Re: Anything is posibbleeeee!
I feel pretty much the same mhec - while the smallest part of me is quietly glad for KG to finally get there to me it just isnt the same. He turns up on this custom built gifted [pun intended] team and gets to something he couldnt accomplish on his career team.
While I can appriciate the passion he is showing - like most will say - if you cant get up for a final why are you playing the game, but like mhec says its not like he's been a part of this franchise for years, he's not struggled here at all, he turned up, lost a handful of games all year, had a couple of "rough" moments in the playoff's and end up with what 99% of people said they would do in the regular season.
I actually found it really hard to get behind the Celts all season; more just from the "spoilt kids" and "plastic" fans that didnt rough out the bad times and rub it in peoples faces in the good times; moaning after each loss how its a huge conspiracy against them and not gracious in victory or defeat. Enough on that though.

One thing that I noted about KG and his supposed honorable struggle in MN: right after he got traded to Boston, like within weeks, they had the tragic bridge collapse. Did KG do anything to help? Did he say anything in the media? Not that I am aware of. I have a friend who met Garnett and said he is the crudest, loudest, most obnoxious person he has ever met. I am not a fan.

Id say it was one of the most touching moments in sports. I teared up. I am really happy for KG, he deserves it.
I hope Dwight saw it. Watching the player he idolized growing up finally reach his goal and the passion/determination he showed, should fan the fire under Dwight's ass.

Re: Anything is posibbleeeee!
I'm glad for KG given the years of crap he had to endure in Minnesota, which he did without complaint (at least publicly). He was the consummate professional whilst there, in an era where pro athletes are categorized as toy-throwing, whining babies. I can see the point about kissing the logo etc. being a negative, but at the same I wouldn't hold it against him.
One thing I did find annoying was the post game interview conducted on-court, when he didn't answer a single question he was asked, behaved in a juvenile manner with the ridiculous shouting, and generally re-enforced the stereotype of pro-sportsmen being uneducated and obnoxious. I know he had just achieved his career goal and it was an emotional moment, but the nonsense he was spouting just made him appear moronic. It's maybe because the general garbage that some athletes tend to impart is a pet-peeve of mine, but when compared with the relatively coherent, articulate interviews given by Paul Pierce, Doc Rivers and Ray Allen, Garnett just looked a tool.

MitchellUK, what is your education background? That was possibly the single greatest post I have ever seen in my life. The grammar, the words, etc. Outstanding.

I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent and articulate guy, but when the Magic win their first championship, I'm going to be babbling incoherently for at least 24 hours afterwards, so I can sort of see where KG is coming from.

Re: Anything is posibbleeeee!
Like I said in my post, Garnett is anything but coherent most of the time. My friend met him at a tennis match (I believe it was Wimbledon) and he said that Garnett was just shouting curse words like he had Tourette's Syndrome. People have always written it off as "Oh, he's just intense and caught up in the moment." No, he seems like a fool, if you ask me.
I used to be a huge fan of his, even own a Timberwolves jersey, but after learning more about him, I don't think too highly.

Nope, you're not the only one.
The only thing KG did and that made me smile was when he was talking to B.R. saying "I got my own now. I hope we made you proud.". That was beautiful and showed that he respects the legends of the game.
All the other antics from him were extremely annoying for me to watch.

I hardly watched any of the finals this year, and turned it off when the blowout was at its peak and the outcome was clear. I never saw any of his antics and I'm not too interested in seeing on youtube either. I don't have much respect for either of these two teams. It took little discipline to achieve this goal imo. It was a make-shift all star team that was just slapped together. The only thing that I remotely enjoyed during this series was Bill Russell talking to KG, probably because KG barely spoke during it. I felt that, but the rest of it all just seemed to irk me. I'm glad its over, and I'm ready for next year to start already.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Seeing his favourite player win it all in such an emotional way would have inspired Dwight.

Is this just proof that your no fan of basketball only the Magic. Really should not be talking about anything happening outside games of the Orlando Magic.
Kobe is the only real all-star on the Lakers. Gasol has made 1 all-star team. In reality Gasol has done as much as Rashard. Odom hasn't done much more than Hedo. Not sure how you would call Kobe, Gasol, and Odom a makeshift all-star team.
The Celtics fairly traded for KG and Allen. Gave up a very high pick for Allen and gave up Al Jefferson who spent much of his career being compared to Dwight Howard. To get Al Jefferson who averaged more points, rebounds, and blocks than KG is a pretty good deal. Especially since KG would have been unrestricted free agent this year.
Kevin Garnett is one of the nice guys in the league. People see how emotional he gets and they can get the wrong perception. Chauncey Billups said it best when the first time he met KG. He thought he was crazy with how intense he played and with all the cursing he did.
KG emotion is real. Remember this guy cried national tv because his team was loosing. He fell in love with being a Celtic. I know most players in the league no doubt were hoping Kg would get his ring. No player took more criticism about not winning with the garbage he was given in NBA history. Just look at Commo post who called KG a looser for not winning a title with a backcourt of Troy Hudson, Anthony Peeler and a second best player of Wally Z.
I'm happy for KG. Part of me wonders if Dwight is on the road. For the first time on the general board I'm starting to see Dwight criticism about playoff performances and not going deeper. Our roster is very comparable to those Minnesota Twolve rosters. Right now the Magic probably need to raise the level of play by 3 grades to beat a team like the Celtics in a series. I'm not sure how exactly we are going to get to that point.
