OT: Boston's roster next season
Guaranteed contracts:
Rondo/Pruitt
Allen
Pierce
Garnett/Powe/Scalabrine/Davis
Perkins
RFAs: Tony Allen
UFAs: Eddie House, James Posey (player option), Sam Cassell, PJ Brown, Scot Pollard
What they can use:
picks 30 and 60 as well as the MLE (idk about the LLE)
Possible FA targets: Juan Dixon, Mickael Pietrus, Matt Barnes, Jarvis Hayes, Theo Ratliff, Fred Jones, Maurice Evans, Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling, Beno Udrih, Gilbert Arenas (is he desperate enough for a title?)
Possible RFA targets: Delonte West, Ronny Turiaf, Juan Carlos Navarro, Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith, Kirk Snyder
Possible targets at 30: basically all the guys we've talked about at 31. Pekovic, Asik, Weaver, Walker, Thompson, Ibaka, Ajinca, Hardin, Jawai, Lee, Hickson, Anderson, anyone that slips, etc...
Ideally they would get Chalmers at 30, but I think he'll get snapped up no later than 26 by the Spurs who also need a back-up PG.
Posey needs to return for sure, then back-up PG should be addressed. Dixon and Navarro are like House in that they are more of SG-type guys in a PG body, so House would probably be re-signed before either of the other 2 are pursued. PJ Brown should retire, so Powe and Davis could possibly take his minutes, as they were the back-ups most of the season, but they might want to keep one seasoned big for the playoffs off the bench. Maybe Ratliff would do the trick. Players like Arroyo, Dooling, and Udrih should get some major consideration.
I honestly would not be surprised if Arenas jumped on with the Celts for the MLE for a year if he doesn't find the money he wants.

Re: OT: Boston's roster next season
Posey deserves most of the MLE, which I think means that BOS then adds aging ex-superstars, trying to get a ring. Maybe Zo. or Kurt Thomas for the vet min.
This, of course, would be bad news for us, since now that KG has his ring, we want BOS to do as poorly as possible, to get the most out of 2009 BOS 1st (top 3 protected).

I understand the KG love and devotion. But this is the wolves forum, not the celtics. Could you explain why I should not lock this thread?

Re: OT: Boston's roster next season
well, I guess I can't stop you, but I just wanted to discuss the Celts and the possibility of their sustained greatness with my fellow wolves posters rather than if I started this in a different forum, it would have a whole different community of posters responding.
If you need a Wolves related reason: we have their 1st round pick next year, their roster make-up affects the placement of that pick.

WHy discuss the celtics with wolves fans? The roster does change the 1st rd pick. So there is value there.
I just do not like the image that MN is the JV for boston and the talk of boston makes that seem more likely.

I was under the impression that you were a born-again Portland fan. Singing your praises on the alter-call of oden? Rather than faithfully attending the true church of Minnesota.

I may not always attend the church, but there's no doubt I still believe in its message.

Makes no sense from an ecclesiological or even a soteriological perspective, but I get your point.

Re: OT: Boston's roster next season
for the record, MN didn't give Boston any favors. Big Papi and Moss had nothing to do with us, we didn't know Big Papi would start a strict HGH regiment after leaving Minnesota and Moss is on Oakland more than us. KG we got fair value for, and the one time Boston should have dealt with us, they got burned for not trading their overrated "prospects" for Johan.

Suggesting that the "message" is the importance, but that the "church" is not essential. The patristic, and for some the current, view is that the purpose of the church is the eschatological gathering of the people of God for purification. Unity and sanctfication go hand in hand. Thus, your statement made no sense from an ecclesiological (church) and soteriological (salvation) standpoint.

I had a reply typed up with a bunch of big words, but it wasn't quite to my satisfaction. You may have won the war, but the battle is over. Or something.
