What J.P. did is disrespectful and unprofessional. He absolutely needs to go. You can't go and rip another team's player for no apparent reason. He is a clown and he makes the entire team look bad. I really hope that Ted Rogers wakes up and realizes that this team is going nowhere with this leadership. As Shulman was saying on P.T.Sports today, the Jays have been mediocre for the past 11 years and haven't played a meaningful game since the Clemens era. Brutal. I'm embarassed to be a BlueJay fan right now.

JP is a clown. The guy built a team that can't drive in runs. It's so inconsistent I stopped watching cause it's too frustrating. We need to get a proven GM.

He really is a clown. He has a large enough budget to build a contender and there are no excuses for the team's record. He's had his chance and imo JP and Gibbons need to get canned. JP trades for a bunch of veteran players past their prime and builds around them, and there is not one single JP signing that has lived up to their expectation. Rolen? Eckstein? Stewart? Burnett? Ryan? even Overbay at times. On paper the team looks decent, but the on field product is irrelevant if anything. They are good players, but not great, and the finger can be pointed directly at John Gibbons for not getting maximum production out of his players. It just seems like no one gives a flying fck on the team.

Not that I care, but I imagine this fits better in the Jays forum.

Clown or not, was he wrong?

EDIT: To clarify, we hear this kind of nonsense trade banter all the time. While I suspect Bryan Colangelo is smart enough to avoid commenting on another team's player, if the media and fans were repeatedly asking him about acquiring Ron Artest, and he one day said something along similar lines about Artest's personality, would you be so quick to harp on the guy? Especially if he's got strong convictions about keeping team character in tact?

I personally don't care for Adam Dunn and dont really mind the fact that JP doesnt want him here.

But I would agree that JP is a clown.

Im just hoping that both JP and Gibbons are fired soon. Maybe bring on Willie Randolph as manager (if he's willing, of course). I know a lot of people dont care for Randolph either, but I think he's a good manager, and was just the scapegoat on a mediocre Mets team.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

The Jays need to fire JP, Gibbons, and let Godfrey try to get a NFL team... I hate JP...

Absolutely ridiculous on JP's part, totally unprovoked and unnecessary. That type of comment gets around the league...any chance now or in the future of a player waiving a no-trade clause to come here (as an example) is pretty much gone, not that there was much of a chance to begin with.

Also, if there was any question that JP fell two continents away from the Beane tree, it's the fact that his primary thought about Dunn is 'low BA, strikes out too much'. He has an OPS+ of 134, compared to the lovely mark of 72 that Stewart carries! Goddamnit JP, you're clueless.

It's disgusting how a team with the leading hitter batting .267 and matt stairs leading the team in home runs is talking about adam dunn, thanks JP
Andrea Bustani speaks the truth, never slurps every move the raptors make.

Andrea Bargnani 08-09 stats - 7 points 2 boards on 39% shooting
Jose CONderon 08-09 stats - won't be as good as TJ 5 star General Ford

JP is a clown.

I hope this moron gets fired hes done nothing for us. And it was a stupid move. Why would you attack a player for no reason when he did nothing to you OR your organization.

The funny thing is that the comments JP made about Dunn could be applied to most of the guys on the Jays this season. How many of them have shown passion this season? How many of them strike out? At least Dunn hits home runs where as the Jays can barely hit any. Schad is right - this also blows our chances of luring some guy here with a bonehead like that running the show.

btw  @ Peteros' av

The funny thing is that we might be better served with more guys who take huge hacks and strike out. The Jays have 422 Ks on the year (for the sake of comparison, our pitchers have notched 536) which ranks the team behind only the White Sox and Yankees. But we are on pace to shatter the league record for double plays, and the Jays are in an epic battle for the AL's worst slugging percentage (down 43 points from last year). Bring on the whiffs, I say! We need more whiffs!

I thought John Ferguson was the worst Toronto GM but JP takes the cake. In addition to accomplishing nothing with this team for 7 years despite having the budget more than double this is also the clown who ignored his scouts and passed on drafting a future hall of famer (Colorado SS Tulowitzki) with the 6th pick and took pitcher Ricky Romero instead. (yeah I've never heard of him either.) Why did he do this? Well he said Tulowitzki would be a wasted pick since Russ Adams was our franchise SS. :banghead:

Tulowitzki is the type of hard ass and take no prisoners player who would pump some life into this lifeless team. The guy's been hurt this year and the Rockies have gone into the tank without him.
