Roy Hibbert
I think he may be a great pick for the Sixers. I realize his foot speed is a little on the slow side, but his basketball acumen is top notch, he is the one of the best passers in the draft and could really help us in half court sets when we get bogged down. He would be a great back-up to Dalembert and add some nice size to the lineup. Just my thoughts on getting a ready made player who can contribute right away. If he turns out to be a stud, then we can deal Daly next year or the year after. Having a 7'3" player who has a nice array of post moves would be a serious asset to the team. Not a run and gunner, but you can't play that style all the time.

If we already had a decent starting PF, then I would say absolutely yes. But our need for a PF with potential is too much of a necessity.

not sure he is going to be there at 16. I think I would rather shore up the back-up center position and go with Evans, Thad, or whomever we sign in FA or trade than a rookie who may or may not pan out. You know what you are getting from Hibbert. I just remember the trouble 6'10" centers ave with 7'3" guys. Alot of misdirected shots.

Not my first choice, but he's certainly worth a look... I suppose he could turn out to be a nice value at 16.

Re: Roy Hibbert
I'm not a huge Hibbert fan, but I think the need for a PF in the draft is overblown. The chances of getting a skilled, motivated banger with a strong post game and defensive presence, which is what we need at PF (are you listening Mr. Brand?), are slim. Speights might fit the bill if he is available at 16, but there are reasons he isn't a sure-fire lottery pick despite his physical talents. Getting a solid back-up center with some bulk at 16 would not be the worst thing in the world. It would not be a sexy pick, but we need a bigger back-up C for those times when bulky guys toss Sammy around like a doll. I might look to trade down before picking Hibbert at 16 though. Seattle has picks 24 and 32. Might get you a back-up C like Hibbert and a project like Hickson/Hendrix at PF with those picks.

I don't think Hibbert will be a bad pick in the mid teens- I just don't see him as a great fit with the athletic, trapping type team the Sixers are trying to put on the floor.
I would almost have another raw, athletic center like Thabeet to back up and eventual replace Sam then take a skilled plodder like Hibbert, who's talents would be better suited on a different style offense and defense.

Roy's game went backwards this year from where he was last year. At 16 this would be a lousy pick. My sequence of picks would be Speights, Thompson, McGee and Ibaka. The 76ers are so far from contending that it's only another rebuilding year, but with only 1 pick to do it.

I agree. I would have no problem picking him at that point because I do believe he has upside. The power forward need is critical though, but if they sour on speights, or mcgee I would do it for sure. I would not rule out JJ Hickson though. I believe 16 would be a bit high for hibbert or hickson but if there are no other good big options availiable at that point, I would definately pick hibbert or hickson.

I think the Roy Hibbert fans are more like the "majority" than the "few" since everyone seems to like him.
Anybody have Hibbert's measurements by chance? I'd like to know them.

Re: Roy Hibbert
He's polished & big if slow. When I watched him play this year, he had the impact of a 6'7" player. He does have a nice hook shot & he can hold his position. I hope we draft someone with greater potential though.
