O.K. I thought more about this and I think Bogut for the #2 pick should do it.

My guess is that if there is a deal CV is the one that's going - not Redd or Mo. This quote is from tomorrow's JS article about Redd making the Olympics. From the sound of it, Hammond is committed to Redd (although, this is obviously not definite):

http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=764112

The Bucks will have three players in the Olympic Games, with Redd being joined by China's Yi Jianlian and Australia's Andrew Bogut.

Hammond said he and Bucks coach Scott Skiles were planning to attend the Beijing Games to show their support for the team's players.

The Cleveland Cavaliers recently denied permission for center Zydrunas Ilgauskas to compete for the Lithuanian team in the Olympics, citing injury concerns.

"Of course you'd be concerned for the health and well-being of your players, but we're not in the same position as some other teams," Hammond said. "You have a healthy Mike Redd, and you have two younger pieces in Andrew and Yi who can physically take the wear and tear of the Summer Olympics and be ready to go 100% once the season starts."

The members of the U.S. team will participate in a minicamp from June 27-29 in Las Vegas. The team will reconvene from July 20-25 in Las Vegas and will play the Canadian national team on July 25 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The U.S. team will play tuneup games against Russia and Australia in early August in Shanghai and will open Olympic play on Aug. 10 against host China at the 18,000-seat Wukesong Indoor Stadium in Beijing.

They have a ton of decent young players with salaries in the $2-4 million range, plus Lafrentz's big expiring deal. I don't know what you had in mind, but they seem to have plenty of ammo to make deals work.

europa wrote:If Simmons and Dez are both still on the roster, there's not much chance for Ilyasova to get many minutes but if one of them is traded and no other SF is brought in, his chances improve.

And to take it one step further, Ersan being back would also imply Joe Alexander probably doesn't get picked (Randolph could also be thrown into that boat).

Has anyone mentioned the possibility of using Sessions as a deal-clincher? How does CV/Sessions/8 for #3/#31/filler (like Buckner) make people feel?

And how would it be contingent on "draft night"? Unless the Bucks were going to include #8 in the deal and wanted to see how draft night goes before #8 is dealt.

I do see your point. The idea of a team getting "desperate" over the "package" does imply that it could involve a pick.

But as you said the "win now" part implies moving out of the draft. But it could also imply trading down and acquiring an additional player who can contribute right away, that could be a "win now" move, depending on who the player is.

Speculating is fun.

Bogut isn't part of the deal.

The inclusion of Ersan could also mean that either Simmons or Mason could be packaged with our #8.

I thought Minnesota were still very high on Foye, thus not having much interest in Sessions.

Upon further review, I think Memphis at 5 is the deal and the Bucks are targeting Love.

What about Redd + #8 for Howard + Stackhouse + Bass

It fits all the scenarios.

That was my thought from the start. The only Hammond/Skiles type player who can contribute next year is Love. Maybe we've got to take back a crappy contract as part of this.

I think Love is the guy and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the guy Hammond wants at 3 and not Mayo. People are just assuming it's Mayo because he's the projected No. 3 guy. But I've said for some time I wouldn't be surprised if Love ended up being the third-best player in the draft. And Chad Ford today said there's 10% of the league which isn't convinced Mayo is the No. 3 guy in this draft. Perhaps Hammond is part of that 10% and perhaps his pick would be Love.

CV/#8 to Memphis for #5/filler does make a lot of sense.

#8, a future #1 and one of the forwards for Mayo.

Key is obviously the future pick.

Villanueva/8 for Love/Lowry/Warrick would be a great start to the offseason for Hammond in my opinion.
