OT: Adam Dunn Calls Ricciardi a "Clown"

When I heard about this I actually breathed a sigh of relief. It reminded me of Zeke blaming the Knicks losing on the fans. It's the kind of pure boneheaded move that will make your job more difficult and it's so easy to avoid no one does it when they think they still have a job. The minute Zeke did it I knew he'd be fired and I knew he knew it. Same goes here. You don't start bashing other teams players for absolutely no reason. In fact you don't do it period if you think you're ever going to have to sign another player ever again. JP knows that when this season went in the toilet, so did his career... finally. I'm convinced the JP era is over, we're just playing out the string now. About fricking time too.

It's remarkable how someone so mediocre at his job, with the attitude and PR skills of a complete prick, could hold down such a lucrative position for 7 years. He must really be a smooth talker behind the scenes.

I also hope this expedites his dismissal. I thought the team on paper looked good prior to the season, but with another .500-ish type season about to happen, it's about time to pull the plug before Ricciardi does or says something else that damages the franchise even more.

Exactly. This guy would have lasted less than 3 years with the Raptors, let alone the Leafs, with the "results" he's shown. And this is a pretty mediocre-attituded town as it is.

I saw JP on the phone at the airport talking trades, I stood idle for a second while he stopped to say hi. He seems like a nice guy but guess not.

They just interviewed Dunn in the locker room after the game, and he INSISTED that him and JP never talked and met..... but JP said pre-game that he went up to Dunn and spoke to him and all....

Yeah i heard JP briefly on Sportscentre before the game that he talked to Dunn and cleared the air with him. If it's true that the two never spoke then i'll be laughing at all the pie on JP's face.

just read this:

Ricciardi told reporters before the game that he believed the matter was closed Saturday, when he took a call from Dunn and offered an apology for ripping the Reds outfielder on the radio last week.

Only Dunn told MLB.com that it didn't happen.

"What? Not true. One million per cent," Dunn said.

That left Ricciardi shaking his head at what he said must have been a prank call.

"I got a call from someone who identified himself as Adam Dunn," said Ricciardi. "It's extremely disappointing if that's not an accurate phone call. I apologized to the person on the phone."

Dunn, who went 1-for-3 with a double, insisted there was no call and wanted to just put the matter behind him.

"I'm not going to go out of my way to apologize or get an apology from a guy I don't even know," said Dunn. "So no it didn't happen and I hope this is the last time I have to talk about it because I'm sick and tired of it. If he said he talked to me then it's a lie."
