Depending on what happens with the draft... If I'm Eddie, I consider throwing an unmatchable 3 or 4 year offer (5 or 6 mil per) at Turiaf... Stopgap solution at PF.

and we don't need a stop gap. We either need to draft a young PF and start him immediately or get a proven vet like Brand. The Sixers have expectations now. Stop gaps aren't going to cut it.

Turiaf might not be my first option, but he's a CLEAR upgrade over what we have at PF.

Turiaf blocks shots at a high rate, especially when he is playing against us. However, his offense is minimal and he does not rebound well enough for his size and position. On a team that needed toughness and defense down low he barely played in the playoffs and was not much of a factor when he did. Do I think he is a nice player? Sure, but not one worth throwing an "unmatchable" contract at. That would be a classic BK move, overpaying a middling player. He is no answer to our need for a top-notch starting PF.

I agree with the original poster... I think Turiaf is a terrific value proposition... I'm not sure about going up to $6M per, but he along with Ben Gordon are the two free agents I'm most interested in... Turiaf when given consistent minutes is capable of putting double doubles (15/10) on a nightly basis...

No he's not. There were at least three stretches last year, one at the beginning of the season, one in January amd one in March, where he consistently received starter's minutes for an extended stretch of games. How many double-doubles did he have the entire season, including those stretches? Zero. He is not a 15/10 guy. In the 21 games he started (he had a number of others where he received big minutes off the bench) he averaged 28.3 minutes and was a 10/5 guy on average, plus 2 bpg. Nice numbers for a back-up on a good rebounding team that can cover his rebounding deficiencies, but he's nothing special. I would also rather have Jason Smith start as a stop-gap at PF before spending valuable cap space on Turiaf.

If we are going to go out and sign a second tier free agent PF i would rather Craig Smith than Turiaf, Smith has more boards, points and better FG%. True Craig Smith is only 6'8 but he weighs the same as Ronny and is very aggressive under the basket.

I would rather not sign either guy. Both are good players, but as they go along in their career the trend in the league is to overpay them. I would rather buy an early second round pick and grab Richard Hendrix.

He is 6-6 and does not have long arms. Thad Young is legitimately taller and longer. No thanks. We have Herb Hill still as well...

Getting turiaf or smith makes little sense. We just drafted 2 PFs last year that will be on our roster in Smith and Hill...

Like a previous poster said, I would rather start Smith than Turiaf, etc.

EDIT: As skates says, I would rather have Hendrix as well.
