According to the Fan and Sportsnet says there's a major announcement soon

all coaches, have been fired except Butterfield and Arnsberg...

CITO GASTON has been hired and all of his coaches from 92/93 season... wow

Wow!!! That is huge news!!! Who are the "other" members from the 92/93 season?? I really want to know how this decision came about!

After being swept in Milwaukee by the Brewers and losing five straight game, the Toronto Blue Jays have fired manager John Gibbons, coaches Marty Pevey, Ernie Whitt and Gary Denbo.

Cito Gaston has returned as the manager for the remainder of the season. Dwayne Murphy will take over as the first Base Coach, Nick Leyva will coach at third base and Gene Tenace returns as the hitting coach - all coaches from the Blue Jays 1992 and 1993 World Series title era.

The team made the announcement Friday afternoon in Pittsburgh before the start of their three game series with the Pirates.

The Jays, who were expected to contend in the AL East and the Wild Card, find themselves in last place in the division with a 35-39 record.

Gibbons, took over the Jays job at the end of the 2004 season, replacing Carlos Tosca. In three full seasons from 2004-2008 under Gibbons, the Jays never finished with fewer than 80 wins or more than 87.

In 610 career games as a manger, Gibbons has a 305-305 record.

This almost looks like something a poster would post on April 1st. Bringing back Leyva and Tenace with Cito? Is Roberto Alomar going to play 2B? How about Candy Maldonado to fill the LF void?

Along with Gibbons, coaches Marty Pevey, Ernie Whitt and Gary Denbo were fired as well. Gaston will be in uniform tonight, alongside first base coach Dwayne Murphy, third base coach Nick Leyva and hitting coach Gene Tenace.

Man, I heard the news and I thought it was a joke. I'm not even worried about if this works out or not right now. This is amazing/hilarious. I probably look like an idiot laughing to myself at work right now. Cito is crazy enough but bringing back the entire staff? WOOOWWW

I can't believe that they brought back the entire coaching staff as well. I'm not surprised that this move happened now...J.P. is good at deflecting the attention away from himself.

GIbbons and staff are gone!! WOOOOO!! Now JP should be the next one to go.

Cito is back. Let's hope he can turn this sinking ship around.

When I heard this on sportscenter I thought it was joke. They should of canned JP while they were at it and brought back Pat Gillick.
