Trade Ideas for Howard

Post#1 » by dtownmavs41 » Fri Jun 20, 2008 7:23 pm

I'm going to make up a few trade ideas and see what the thoughts are about these.

Dallas Trades:
Josh Howard
Brandon Bass

Denver Trades:
JR Smith
Marcus Camby

Not sure if Denver would do this, but they are trying to go in a different direction so who knows. This would give us a talented SG in Smith and Camby is one of the top centers in the NBA. (Dampier would be an extremely overpaid backup center)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dallas Trades:
Josh Howard

Golden State Trades:
Stephen Jackson
Marco Belinelli

Not sure if Howard was one of Nelsons guys but I'm sure anyone would rather have Howards baggage over Jacksons. Also Belinelli was in the dog house almost the entire season so I don't think they would mind much if they lost him.

I know Jackson isn't the character you really want on your team but he is similar to Rasheed Wallace, when they are playing well and with their head on almost no one can stop them on either end of the floor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dallas Trades:
Josh Howard

Houston Trades:
Shane Battier
Steve Francis
(Possibly Luther Head if the mavs feel they aren't getting enough, also the mavs could throw in a second round pick if necessary)

Not sure the mavs and rockets would want to trade within the division but this gives the rockets another scorer and the mavs a great defender for all the kobes, cp3's, and carmelos. Francis never really played in Houston so i dont think they would mind throwing him in (hes in his last year) and luther head is similar to terry but atleast we would be getting another player that can play now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dallas Trades:
Josh Howard
JJB

Indiana Trades:
Mike Dunleavy
Ike Diogu

This gives us an offensive replacement to Howard, and honestly I think Dunleavy is a little better at that but not near the defender. I just want Ike here because I went to high school with him and I think he will have a breakout season once he gets some playing time but he wouldn't get much here unless Bass is dealt.

Two things I get from your post:

1. You don't like Josh Howard very much
2. You seem to be okay with Terry and Stack

interesting...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Honestly I do like Josh Howard as a basketball player, but he is the main player being rumored so I just wanted to come up with possible trades. I do like Terry but he is not going to be easy to trade because of his big contract. Stackhouse on the other hand, I do not like at all. All of these trades work financially which is why Stackhouse was not included. He has a large contract for someone that can only play about 15-20 minutes a game and is one dimensional, so I don't think there would be too many takers on him. Stackhouse hopefully will be traded, but he will just be thrown in to make numbers work ie. Jermaine O'Neal and Michael Redd

Remember, Stack's contract is attractive because he ends up counting only 2 mil against the cap if he's cut next year. Whoever gets him saves some money. Stack is a trade piece. BTW, I am in full agreement with Terry and his behemoth of a contract. His clutch shooting will be used though.

The only trade that I would really think about is with Denver. I would only give Howard though, not Bass as well. I like the idea of a legit shot blocking big in Dallas.

If that were the case, I would want to find a team that would take Damp's albatross of a contract for a S&T of a defensive SF like Artest and maybe a 2008 1st rd. pick. Also, sign Diop for part of the MLE.

Dampier
Stack
S&T George

for

Artest S&T
2008 1st round pick
SAR
Udrih S&T

New lineup:
Kidd/Udrih/Barea
Smith/Terry/Seibuitis
Artest/Wright/R. Terry
Dirk/SAR/2008 2nd
Camby/Diop/2008 1st

Edit: Forgot last year's 2nd rounders and this year's 2nd rounder...

Like pretty much all of the trades except for the Houston and the Indiana trades.

I only looked at the Denver scenario and dismissed the rest as drivel.

So, we're trading Josh Howard -- a guy almost everyone hates because he shoots too many jump shots and forgets about the facets of his game that makes him so special -- for a guy who shoots even more jump shots, particularly three pointers, and is not known to do anything else? Then we trade the youngest player on the team who played surprisingly well for a 34 year-old team defender?

I don't get this board anymore.

I posted this in another thread but what about Howard/Bass for G. Wallace or J.Rich/Okafor?

Too good to be true.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dallas Trades:
Josh Howard

Golden State Trades:
Stephen Jackson, Marco Belinelli

I'd trade SJax with their #14 pick but not the pure shooter rookie.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dallas Trades:
Josh Howard

Houston Trades:
Shane Battier, Steve Francis, Luther Head

I like Battier but the rest are just throw-in. Not enough for a guy like Josh Howard. Again, if they throw in the #25 pick, we might at least consider.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dallas Trades:
Josh Howard, JJB

Indiana Trades:
Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu

Dunleavy is a consistent scorer but I don't like he can compete against elite SF. Diogu is another undersized C/PF combo. He's yet to prove anyting. I'd rather re-sign Diop at this point.

Quite possibly one of the worst, most lopsided trade ideas I've ever seen. The Kings lose in EVERY aspect of that swap--every player the Kings trade to Dallas is better (in some cases much, much better) than who they receive. Thanks for the good laugh though.
