2008 NBA Finals is an indication that Lebron>Kobe

Post#1 » by cujolll » Fri Jun 20, 2008 9:20 pm

Lebron was very dominant against the Celtics and took the World Champions to 7 games, while Kobe Bryant struggled and had a very difficult time adjusting to the Celts defense. To top that off, Kobe has far more talent surrounding hime than Mr. James. I don't care what anyone says...Lebron is better than Kobe. Kobe is overrated in the sense of everyone saying he is the G.O.A.T., but the simple fact is, he not the best in the NBA today. Lebron, in my opinion brings far more to the table than Kobe does. Mr. Bryant is strictly a scorer and if he is struggling in that category he is very ineffective. Go ahead and bash me but there are some that will agree.

By this logic

Joe Johnson > Bryant

This is just a hate thread, but here are my thoughts:

I think Kobe Bryant is the most skilled NBA Player but at times he may not the best player because his effectiveness can be limited by other teams.

The hardest player to limit his effectiveness IMO is Lebron James.

The reason is primarily because of his relentless attacking of the hoop and the pressure that is put on the opposing defense.
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Are you forgetting the first 4 games?

Kobe Bryant

Lebron James

I think they played as good as each other.

But after watching the Boston series with the Lakers. I think Both are as good as each other.

I thought Kobe was on another level, but the Celtics rocked him.

Lebron is better but comparing the Celtics series is not enough..look at their offense, defense, intangibles, for the whole year...how much they accomplish compared to the amount of help they have..... and you can make a good argument for Lebron that way.

Kobe Bryant has passed from underrated to overrated in only 2 years, it's amazing to see people ranking him as one of the best 10 of all time when chris paul and lebron james are not worse than him RIGHT NOW, and with worst teams (especially the cavs, comparing to the lakers) they have done wonders this season.
kobe is definitely more talented than lebron, but lebron is more valuable and any team in the world wouuld choose him over kobei, kobe won mvp because lebron plays for a loser team, it's same story as 2007 with dirk, kobe, kobe loser team, dirk winner, but kobe > dirk.

Didn't Lebron shoot 35% against the Celtics and 35% in the Finals last year against the Spurs?

It'd be one thing if the Cavs beat the Lakers in the Finals...but that's not what happened. LeBron didn't even get to the Finals.

And LeBron rocked the Celtics? Really?

Does that mean Joe Johnson is better than Kobe too?

I'm sure others have said it, but my two cents: This is silly. 1) Boston clearly wasn't playing the same earlier in the playoffs, hence why the Hawks took them to 7, 2) Lest we forget, Kobe was dealing with a painful injury.

However, there's no doubt that Kobe falls well short of GOAT status in his play, I definitely wouldn't dispute that.

Ahh imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Thanks sugar.

It's gonna be a long offseason for you if you refuse to believe that Kobe isn't far ahead of his peers- or even worse.
