Trade up for Beasley?

Post#1 » by MN Die Hard » Fri Jun 20, 2008 1:28 pm

Suppose Miami offers us the #2 pick in exchange for #3 and their future pick back. Do you do it, or do you accept the small liklihood that Miami passes on Beasley, and even if they don't, we remain satisfied with Mayo at #3?

I'm not really convinced Beasley is going to fit well with Big Al from what I've read. I haven't seen much of Beasley so I'm not that informed but I'd rather go with Mayo honestly unless McHale/Hoiberg pull out another deal involving Beasley.

I say do it. There are people that think Mayo is on level with Beasley, I don't.

As far as the Miami's pick goes, I think we'd end up getting it next year and I think it could be in the 20's. Looking at the projections for next years draft, it doesn't seem to be that deep.

This is a tough hypothetical. MIA would probably demand more, and may get it from other teams. However, if this offer was on the table, it would be hard to turn down, but I think I would do so. I think the MIA pick will have some value, but mostly, I'm just confortable with either Mayo or Beasley at this point.

I'd do it in a second, but it doesn't sound like manageement is too high on Beasley.

I kind of think that Minnesota should call Miami's bluff. If Miami really wants Mayo, then let them take him 2nd. If not, then we take Mayo.

All of this talk seems to be bumping Mayo up, while dropping Beasley's stock a little.

Call Miami's bluff. Make them make the hard choice. That Miami pick could be very, very nice.

I like both players, but lets be real here. Even if management isn't set on beasly, he has way more value then some future pick. Players like Beasly don't come out in every draft.

Im in the "Call Miami's bluff" camp also. Its simple, we take whoever is left of Rose, Beasley, Mayo.

Am not a fan of trading up and giving up assets for a marginal increase in value (yes, I consider the diff between #2 and #3 marginal at this point). I would only be in favor of trading for Beasley if we had a very nice deal lined up to trade him away, ala Bogut + #8 + or Kaman + #7 or something along those lines where we get a legitimate center (young) and a pick. Otherwise, stay at #3 and see what your options are from there without losing assets.

I never offer them their first back. But if I can't find a better trade down for Mayo I might relent. I still doubt it is what they are asking for. I would bet it all that given their option, they would rather have us take Blount for Walker. It is better for both teams. The only one who could possibly see it as a worse option is Taylor. Whatever ends up happening you can rest assured of one thing, the Heat will draft Beasley at #2 and the Wolves will draft Mayo at #3. I put the odds at 80% that after that happens, neither is with the team that drafted them half an hour later. Designate a driver because it's gonna be intense.

I imagine McHale and Riley both intensely negotiating across a table under a lamp in a windowless room like one of those police interrogation rooms and both profusely sweating like the fat guy that sings the chorus in the Gangsta's Paradise video

As a Heat fan, I'll do a Banks & #2 (Beasley) for Brewer, Filler (Richards), the #3 & #34.

As a Wolves fan, I'd offer a ham sandwich and #3 for #2.

That's ugly for the Wolves. No way. Wolves are happy with whoever falls to them at 3, I think, no way they trade Brewer or take on Banks to move up.

The wolves do not have the proper value. We either have too much, or not enough.

Hoops23, that is a bloody horrible deal. Might be the worst I have seen today.

That doesnt work for me, can we throw in Jefferson on our side? We would gladly take back Blount to make the salaries match

Heat fan trade proposals are the best.

My favorite was the one where we trade 3/Jefferson for 2/blount/banks or somethin like that.

We've had Marcus Banks once already. Dont want his crappy ass again
