RealGM fan mock draft: Clippers on the clock!

Post#1 » by smoothie » Sat Jun 21, 2008 4:16 pm

using knowledge of recent reports from the team you follow most closely, please form an educated guess as to whom your team will select and why.

this is not about who you want your team to draft, but who you think they want to draft given the situation below.

Draft Board:
1. Chicago - Rose
2. Miami - Beasely
3. Minnesota - Mayo
4. Seattle - Bayless
5. Memphis - Love
6. New York - Westbrook
7. LA Clippers - ??

there's a lot of rumors and speculation around your pick. i'm very interested to read your responses! you're on the clock!

Is this based off of 1 post or a number of posts from our board. Anyways based on this simulation I believe that we will draft Eric Gordon. We are in desperate need for a guard and he's the best one left of the board. He is a small two guard but hopefully he'll be able to play some PG for us.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

As it stands, with Bayless off the board, they'd be crazy to take anyone else except GORDON.

this draft board is formed from going from board to board, one at a time, starting this exact thread, and discussing why fans think their gm would like one player over another.

I'd be tempted to take Brook Lopez and trade down with either Charlotte or New Jersey to pickup either Gordon or Augustin and an additional pick.

thats a good idea, but this thread is about what do you think your team will do... not what you would do.

if you have any knowledge of reports that back up your case thats even better!

im looking for info about what the GM said the team needs are, what he thinks of players after they came in for workouts... that kind of stuff. based on that, and the draft board given to you... who do you think he would pick?

Yeah, in real life, I'd hope we'd get Lopez and move him somewhere, because I definitley believe there will be buyers. For this mock's sake, the Clippers would probably take Gordon if we were going to keep the pick. I'm almost certain we wouldn't reach for Augustin, and with no other backcourt options at 7, Gordon wins by default.

At this point the Clips are desperately in need for a guard. About 60% of their workouts thus far have been with guards. With what's available you'd have to say we'd have interest in Gordon or Augustin. Augustin would be a reach and like previously mentioned would be an option if we traded down. Standing pat, it's Gordon.

If we get Lopez or Love we best move up for OJ or Bayless. However, if EG falls to us at #7 we should just settle.

^^^^ It might be possible to add Gallinari to that list as well. McHale seems to like him.

Brook Lopez.

Then we trade him to MIN for OJ. Most people have been saying something like this:

Lopez, TT, Return Pick

for

OJ, Jaric

Not sure if that's enough for MIN.

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
