Interesting read. The kid just wants to play ball. School isn't his thing.

Well it would raise flags about his intelligence because that is the reason he wouldn't be going to school.

I wonder how many of these freshman who leave early really wanted to go to school. If he wants to graduate high school and make money right away in europe, then go for it.

What lesson would they learn? It doesn't hurt them any way. This rule is dumb and unnecessary. It actually hurts the schools more than helps.

Doesnt hurt the NBA?????????
Well its pretty Obvious but I'll break it down for you.
What do you think will happen to the NBA if all the Best players goto Europe to play?
And if they decide to return they can negotiate their own contract as a FA

You misunderstood me. This option of going overseas is not a long-term option for them, it is only being thought of as a temporary thing for the players. Also they would still be subject to the draft, so you're wrong there. Every way you slice it, the money is in the US. The marketing, contracts, etc. Also most of the players will want to stay in the US as that is where family is. Never ever will the NBA have to fight with Europe for the world's best.

It is a longterm option for them if they want it to be, there are many rich basketball players in Europe.
um.. they still have to be drafted.. just like manu and tony parker were still drafted.
Umm, just like Jorge Garbajosa, Juan Carlos Navarro and Jose Calderone too right?

Guess what! JC Navarro was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2002 NBA Draft. Garbajosa and Calderon were subject to the draft, but no one drafted them because they were not viewed as NBA talent at the time. They progressed, and then were signed. It won't be a long-term option, trust me. US options are 100x more lucrative.

Guess what, Navarro stayed in Europe and made way more money then he would have as a 2nd round pick
Subjected to the draft? Not viewed as NBA talent? Says who, you? dude stop making stuff up.
Calderone and Garbojosa made ALOT of money in Europe AND came to the US andf made ALOT of money WITHOUT being drafted.

Re: Brandon Jennings considering Europe?
This doesn't hurt the NBA in any way, shape, or form. No American player is going to snub the NBA for Europe if he has a legit shot at a career here. None.
