Looking at that list, someone I would like to add is Diop. We could sign him with our MLE. He is a good defensive player. Duhon is another I would like to add. Your thoughts?

Jermaine O'Neal, Artest, and Iverson have publically declined their ETOs.

Ariza has picked up his player option

So those 4 guys can be removed from the list

I'm can't really comment on what I'd like to do without knowing what we do in the draft. I personally would like to see us trade back into the first round so we can take a PG and a C in the first round, which would really eliminate the need for us to spend the extra money on a free agent. If we just draft a PG, though, I wouldn't mind Diop too much.

Don't see us being major players. Perhaps a backup SG and a third string center.

Guys I like: Roger Mason, CJ Miles, Tony Allen, Mickael Gelabale, Louis Williams, Azuibuike, Salim Stoudamire. Also, wouldn't mind seeing James Jones return. I always like that kid both on and off the court, and I think he can play some 2. The defense he played on Paul Pierce in the playoffs one year was excellent. Good shooter.

Third string center, doesn't really matter, but I'd prefer just a physical banger like a Melvin Ely or Adonal Foyle.

Alot of those players, as Tommy Udo said, are re-signed and could be taken off the list.

The several players that interest me are -

Carlos Arroyo, because i think in a different offense i think he can shine. He always shines in International competitions and i do think he's a good player in the NBA but just hasn't gotten the right break yet. He's had several big games for Orlando this past season, i think he can average like 12-13ppg and like 6-7 apg if he got the minutes. He's quick and could be one of those late bloomers. He's a great talent but he just hasn't figured out the NBA just yet, it's only time before he does.

Anthony Carter, if we draft a PG like Augustin or Westbrook i'd love to have Carter on this team. Carter is probably one of the best defensive point guards in the NBA. He's old so his demand probably isn't high but in games where our rookies can't handle the opponent, we could give Carter more minutes so play as a shut-down PG.... he wouldn't kill us offensively but would be a huge asset on defense.

Austin Croshere - He was a fan favorite here and i think he got a raw deal in Golden State. I know he's like 33 years old or something like that, but the guy is a fan favorite, would be cheap and gives a honest effort each and every night. He can give us a little bit of scoring, a little bit of hustle rebounding, and i think alot of fans would enjoy him being a Pacer again and him retire as a Pacer.

I agree with adding Croshere. It would definetly be nice, as he was always a solid player. But based on the fact no one goes to Pacer games and we are over the cap, I just don't see Indiana being a big player.

Croshere for the minimum as a 3rd stringer would be acceptable. Anything other than that? Please no.

Realistically, I'd throw the full MLE at Louis Williams and hope that it's enough to pry him away from the 76ers, although I doubt it would be.

Other than that, maybe Daniel Gibson, who's a lights out shooter and still very young. I would say Sebastian Telfair, but he and Diener would seem redundant in their mediocrity.

Just noticed C.J. Miles. He only played 11 mpg for the Jazz, but in those 11 minutes he was very effective across the board, including good shooting percentages. Throw in the fact that he's just 21, and I think you could make a good case that his potential is just as high as any mid-lottery pick. I probably wouldn't go full MLE, but I'd throw him something out there for around $4M per and see if he could steal him away from Utah.

Croshere did play for the vet minimum in Golden State - with the NBA paying most of his salary.

He almost certainly would play for Indiana for a one year deal for the same amount.

Barring a JO trade this summer that would allow a little breathing room, it's highly unlikely that the Pacers will be using any of their MLE.

They currently are committed to just under $69 million dollars in payroll for 11 players. The player we take at #11 will command a contract at around $2.1 million for the first year, putting us at a total of $71 million with only 12 players.

The luxury tax threshold last season was just under $68 million. A growth of about 5% (average) would put the threshold at $70.7 million, so we'll either be dead up against it, or over. The dollar for dollar tax would mean that a Full MLE would actually cost the Pacers about $10.7 million cash money next season.

I have a hard time believing that they'll pay that much tax for a team whose most likely best case scenario at this point is a low-seed in the the playoffs.

I suspect they'll fill the roster with guys at the minimum, and go with 14 again this year.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

I'm gonna have to agree with c55 here. We're just too cash strapped to spend big money on any body, even if we have the MLE to do so.
