Jokinen to Yotes

Post#1 » by ajaX82 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 12:43 am

OTTAWA (AP)—The Florida Panthers traded captain Olli Jokinen to the Phoenix Coyotes for defensemen Nick Boynton and Keith Ballard and a second-round pick on Friday night during the NHL draft.

Phoenix made a pretty damn good move here. That team is gunna have some good talent

Some of us talked about this in the Draft Thread, but this makes Phoenix a playoff team in my mind, no question.

Good trade for both teams here. Many are extremely high on Ballard, and should contribute in the near future.

As for the Coyotes, they just acquired one of the better forwards in the NHL. He's going to make a considerable difference on the team.

I like this deal for Phoenix. They're going to be fun to play against.

Phoenix is really going to surprise some people next year. If they had Bryz all year they probably would have snuck into the playoffs this year. Next year you have added a premier centre in the game to play with guys like Doan and you now have a solid goalie locked up with a ton of young talent in there as well. They will be in the mix for sure.

As for Florida, Ballard was an allstar this past year but that doesn't mean much. You know the allstar game is diluted because each team has to have their own allstar. He's a solid dman but him plus Boynton, who's stock has dropped dramtically since leaving Boston, isn't enough for someone like Jokinen.

On top of that, not even getting a 1st for him is completely shocking IMO. To only get a 2nd as part of the deal to me is disgusting
