Charlotte Trade

Post#1 » by creative1 » Sat Jun 21, 2008 10:28 pm

What do you guys think of something like this?

Charlotte Trades:
J. Richardson or G. Wallace
E. Okafor

Dallas Trades:
J. Howard
B. Bass

I'm not sure if the salaries work out but we could easily add filler or contracts to make it work (i.e. Stack). I think J. Rich or Wallace would both be great fits on the Mavs. JRich's offense would work very well with Kidd and Wallace's D could be a chemistry changer for us (as well as his fast break abilities). I actually wouldn't mind getting them both plus Okafor if it was possible.

We give up some good value in Howard and Bass but I think Okafor could be a great fit for us. He can play C behind Damp when he needs to and give us a great presence in the post. He'd also be a great fit getting minutes behind Dirk at PF where he prefers to play. His shotblocking would help with guys like Amare, Duncan, Gasol, Brand, etc.

I think Charlotte would also be likely to trade with us as we're out of their conference. Howard is also from that area so it would have hometown hero appeal to the Bobcats as well. Larry Brown should be able to work well with Howard and Bass would be a flourshing presence in the East against other PF's.

Thoughts? Pick it apart. Seems more likely than Marion, Artest, or anything else I've heard.

No way Charlotte goes for that... Dallas would be set if they did get that done somehow though

What about adding Stack and A. Wright? Give them a vet and a young swing. Both of them are cheap. I think we might be able to get it done.

okafor is a restricted free agent and with the kinda money he wants no way in hell, besides the bobcats would have to be on crack to make a deal like this but with mj in charge you never know lol. i would love to have gerald wallace here tho

creative1, you really overvalue Josh and all of our players don't you? It's going to take Dirk to acquire both players.

Contracts:

J-Rich: $13,333,333 - $14,444,444

Emeka Okafor: - RFA that turned out 13 million per/year last offseason. He's going to be seeking around the same amount of money or close to a max contract.

Josh Howard: $10,890,000 - $11,835,000 (PO). Not enough salary to even match one of them.

What about GWall, J-Rich and #38 for JoHo, Stack and #51?

It's more realistic for both side.

What makes you think you can get two borderline semi-stars for Josh Howard? Theses proposals are really getting out of hand!

Fair enough. I might have been a little unrealistic. I will maintain that Howard is just as good as J. Rich or Wallace though. Throwing Okafor in there makes it unrealistic as Bass isn't quite close to him yet.

Too bad we don't have any picks to throw in. Maybe Larry Brown/MJ would have bit at Howard/Bass/Stack/1st round pick for Wallace/Okafor.

c1, check out my potential trades that do NOT offer Josh Howard. They are in the stickied trade/fa/offseason thread...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...
