With the Random Trades thread gone missing, I'll post a new topic. Tayshaun Prince is now on the market. I think he'd be a great fit with our team, and even though we have Thornton playing the 3 we could switch him to the SG and move Tay to the SF. Then, all we need is a PG in FA.
Tay for #7 works in trade checker. Anyone like this trade, or have other ideas (a possible Maggs S&T?).
A starting 4 of Thornton, Prince, Brand, and Kaman would be deadly. Now all we would need is to get a decent PG.

I like tayshaun a lot. If livy can somehow come back we'd have a pretty tall line up.

Unless we move Thornton, we'd have the same problem with Price as we do Maggette, all these talented SF's create a log jam. A Thornton for Prince swap is the only way it would be worth it, that is, if you think it would actually be worth it. Prince brings D, Al brings O, take your pick.

Re: Tayshaun Prince
The trade thread got lost with move. All the threads created before January some odd date were not moved because it would have taken even longer to transfer. They're supposed to be brought back in a read-only archive probably sometime after the draft.
I'm not fully sure if you meant Prince for just the 7th or if you left someone out (e.g. a Maggette S&T). There's not much of anything not to like about Prince as a player. He plays defense, he's a respectable shooter, glue guy that kicks it up a notch in the playoffs, never misses a game, etc. I'd love it if he could bring his conference finals streak over as well
He'd be a great fit next to Brand & Kaman in the front court. I'd be more than willing to entertain the idea of him being brought over here if we were still able to keep Brand & Kaman.

I like Tayshaun a lot as well. But unlike loflin, I don't think we need to choose between him and Thornton...Al can move to the SG spot easily. And like Purpose said, with EB, Kaman, Tayshaun, Thornton, and Livingston...that's a line up with a height advantage at every position. Assuming Al works at the 2 spot, I like it.
As far as getting the deal done, I'm with MK in assuming there would have to be a Maggette S&T involved somehow. Prince for the #7 alone doesn't seem plausible.

Exactly what I was thinking. Move Thornton to the two and have a tall lineup. A S&T Maggs + future draft picks doesn't sound like it's that bad of a deal.

Re: Tayshaun Prince
Thornton at the 2? Ummm.... I guess? Al would get abused on defense by smaller guards. I guess you could have Prince guard opposing 2's and have Al defend the 3, but making Al a SG feels like forcing things to me. That's a big adjustment for a 2nd year kid who played 4 years in college and one in the pros exclusively at forward, but there's a chance Prince could cover Al's shortcomings.
IDK what it would take to get Prince here. Thornton and Thomas seemed like a fair trade. Maybe Mobley and #7 for Prince and #29? That Still seems like a lot to me.

Call me crazy, but I don't think Mobley + #7 for Prince + #29 sounds that bad at all.

Prince would be an investment that would cost you guys:
$9,500,000
$10,324,380
$11,148,760
The 3 is pretty much covered right now for you. So, I would focus on what's going to happen at the point, the Elton Brand contract, and go from there before adding Prince's salary. Sure you get a class act, a guy that's among the best defensively, but the three is far from being the biggest need on this team.
Cheers

Re: Tayshaun Prince
Prince is a good third option...but I'm not sold on him carrying a team and with that contract of his, I'd expect him to. Detroit is perfect for him. I doubt he could be as successful on other teams where he has to lead and is surrounded by less talent. Also, as stated, we already have the 3 covered with Thornton. The weak back court is the primary concern right now.
I'm sure Detroit can get a better deal than that.
