Pacers and Jazz trade

Post#1 » by pacershereiam » Sun Jun 22, 2008 4:33 pm

I know this has been brought up before, but I want to give my side of things. I think with the number 11 pick we should draft Marreese Speights as our PF/C of the future. Trade Oneal for Hinrich and whatever else. Trade Jeff Foster to Utah for their first round pick and draft Courtney Lee as our future SG.

Hinrich/Tinsley/Diener
Dunleavy/Lee/Daniels
Granger/Williams
Diogu
Speights/Murphy

And we can see how Lee does and if he does well, that will make Dunleavy tradeable then. We would have some good trading assets with Dunleavy,Tinsley, and Diogu. I know Tinsley isnt big but if we can cut his minutes down less wear and tear on him and keep him healthy and make him more tradeable. I think Lee could be our starting SG for the future. he has the offense, and good defense. He will be good in a fast tempo offense. I would love to get Stephon Curry out of Davidson next year or whenever he comes out.

Hinrich has offense, defense, and can distribute the ball
Dunleavy brings the offense and isnt horrible at defense but isnt what we need
Granger is our franchise player he does it all
Speights will bring rebounding, defense, and some offense at first but will eventually turn into a 15 points 10 rebound 1.5 to 2 blocks a game.

If there was a way to draft Dorsey in the second round with our 41 pick I would say do it. I believe he will bring the tough hard nose defense we need at our center position. He is like Ben Wallace in the Detroit Pistons days.
Hinrich/Tinsley
Dunleavy/Lee
Granger/Williams
Speights/Diogu
Dorsey/Murphy

Young atheletic team.

No offense dude, but you mentioned Tinsley as a good trading asset and I quit reading.

I like Speights a lot. I'm coming more and more to the conclusion that there really isn't much of a difference in some of the guys that are at about 10-22. I think it all comes down to style and preferences, not so much sheer talent. Now, if someone in the top 10 reaches a bit, we could get a slightly better talent to slip to us I think, but I'm not really sweating the draft too awful much.

The thing that scares me about Speights is I keep hearing that he is inherently lazy. Billy Donovan sure didnt seem too upset to see him leave the Gators, and I am just not convinced about him. I wouldnt throw a fit if we picked him, but I like other players better at #11.

Besides Gordon and Westbrook he's the player i want next, but just like you said, his "lazy" play scares me. I know he was worked hard his freshman year with Noah and Horford but last year he was lazy and unmotivated. He only played 23 minutes per game, not that great for a player of impact on a bad team. They claim he wore down and needed the time off. But when he was in he was a scoring machine. lol
