Re: RJ to L.A.? NJ newspaner article
they might as well trade odom to the wizards for caron butler then... jefferson addresses none of their problems... they could save a lot of money by keeping odom with his huge expiring contract and just play ariza more often...

Re: RJ to L.A.? NJ newspaner article
Unless we cannot get Artest, I say do it. With a line-up of Bynum, Gasol, and Odom the Lakers offense will actually get worst; the triangle is so dependent on people being able to spread the floor, and with Odom at the 3 teams will be able to pack it in; taking away Kobe's penetration. With Jefferson, the Lakers can spread the floor, they can get someone who is an athletic wing that will be able to hit shots and penetrate. I can really seeing Jefferson being a dominant offensive threat on the Lakers; teams will be worrying about way to much to be thinking about him, and the Lakers this year were missing someone besides Kobe who could create from the wing; Rj, will also allow Kobe to be able to rest more.

i think the chances that the lakers pay odom, or whoever he's possibly traded for, 14 mil and 15 mil by the time bynum's contract kicks in are close to none.

Thats (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Odom fits the Lakers needs alot more than Jefferson would. They made it to the finals against tough western teams and now all of a sudden because they lost against the Celtics they are a bad team? With Bynum coming back this team will be ELITE by a whole new level so I really don't see much need for change.

If that's the case then Buss is not serious about winning championships. We can't let Odom walk for nothing. I'd expect Kobe to opt out if that happens.

he thinks they won't be paid 14-15 mil, maybe less
and i'm sure buss is very serious about winning it all, he can't grow money on trees

Re: RJ to L.A.? NJ newspaner article
I am not really into this idea for an odom for RJ trade. RJ has a good upside as a better offensive threat then odom. LO when focused plays with his heart and does all the little things. Sometimes too little. But with the fact that we face the luxury tax, i think there are some better options first before RJ. Ron Ron, or T-Prince. Ron Ron says he wont opt out, but he wants a championship and Sac isnt in a position to do so. T-Prince was stated to be on the trading block by Dumars. Both play great defense (which was what hurt us, whether it was team defense or one on one defense) and both can score in a matter of ways. so thats my two cents, i am not for this trade as a first option.

No on RJ. Trade odom for Gerald Wallace.
Or per wiretap. Tayshaun is also on the block.

Odom and Kobe will both take less money if they win a ship together, and hopefully Bynum will too (they make enough outside basketball). Just wait till 2010 when Lebron and Bosh take less cash to join up in New York and win a 'ship

Re: RJ to L.A.? NJ newspaner article
Just to clear a couple things up...
RJ is a good defender. RJ has become a good shooter from 3 averaging 36% over the last two years, and a very good jump shooter inside the 3 point line. His rebounding fluctuates according to what the coaches ask him to do. Because of their scoring problems the Nets have had him sprint to the wing for a fast break (where Jefferson is one of, if not, the best) when ever the opportunity presents. Basically he is a hard-nosed guy who can give you scoring, but will do whatever the team needs, whether it is rebounding, defense or anything else.
Jefferson would be an excellent fit on the Lakers, but IMO there is no reason for the Nets to trade for Lamar Odom.

Don't know where you guys are getting your information on RJ, but I've watched him for the past four years (went to the east coast for school) and he's a very good defender. He would be an upgrade over Odom in that respect.
RJ can also be a very good rebounder, but Odom's better.
Though Odom has an amazing skillset, RJ's better at adopting a scorer's mentality. I don't think RJ would get "lost" as often as Odom does.
Odom's the slightly better passer.
They're both mediocre shooters. I would give the slight edge to RJ, however.
Bottom line: I prefer RJ over Odom, but the swap probably wouldn't make that much of a difference.
