LOL, I really did. It might have been the part about him not playing a game this year though.

The same could be said, to a MUCH GREATER extent about Frye and Jack. (If I were the GM, I wouldn't care less what Portland thinks of Marvin, there are 28 other teams in the NBA to talk to).

Essentially, you countered absolutely nothing in my post.

Portland don't really need to bother with a player like Marvin Williams if they don't want to. They've already done their wheeling and dealing and it looks like they are going to be set for many years to come.

The word is that they still want to upgrade SF. Martell Webster is considered a defensive liability and Travis Outlaw is seen as their 6th man due to his ability to heat up quick offensively. Marvin may or may not be an upgrade at SF for them. I think their first choice would be to add Tayshaun Prince. Detroit may be wanting too much for him. Shane Battier would make sense given the rest of their lineup, but I am unsure what it would take to get Houston to give him up. I look for Corey Maggette to become their target. They could work a sign and trade with the Clippers who are in danger of losing him for nothing without giving up one of their big 3. They could could ship a PG and a wing as well as eat a bad contract to make it happen.

LaFrentz (expiring)
Jack (expiring)
Webster (expiring)
Frye (expiring)
for
Maggette (S&T)
Mobley

Gives the Clippers a body count and talent infusion (3 would be RFAs allow them to resign what they want) and gives Portland a starter upgrade at the 3.
