Help Improve Team USA!

Post#1 » by Captain_Morgan » Mon Jun 23, 2008 4:19 pm

Add and drop players you think that will positively impact Team USA and improve their chances of winning the Olympic Gold Medal.

Official Roster:
Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic)
Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets)
Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz)
Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors)
Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers)
LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Jason Kidd (Dallas Mavericks)
Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets)
Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons)
Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks)
Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat)
Deron Williams (Utah Jazz).

My Roster:
Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic)
Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics)
Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz)
Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs)
Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers)
LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Jason Kidd (Dallas Mavericks)
Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets)
Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons)
Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks)
Brandon Roy (Portland TrailBlazers)
Deron Williams (Utah Jazz)

I dropped Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and added Tim Duncan, Brandon Roy and Paul Pierce.

I think my team is much more mature and defensively sound than the original Team USA. Tim Duncan can add stability to the PF position. Dwight Howard is a great basketball player but he can be too physical when playing international games. He gets in foul trouble too easily. Carlos Boozer is probably the most offensively sound forward player in the game right now but he has no presence on defense. Brandon Roy can shoot the ball and distribute pretty well. Dwyane Wade is a great player but he is injury prone and he turns over the ball too many times. He is also a liability in the shooting game. Paul Pierce is a great player that can do it all. I think his game fits perfectly in international settings. He can score consistently from any range and his defensive presence will definitely help the team.

I thought that Timmy D isn't eligible for the USA team?

And the chances of your proposed adjustments ever happening..............................zero.

If you're dropping Carmelo... you need help. I don't care if you like him or not, his game is perfect for international ball.

topic starter = fail

Before you pick replacements know who is in the usa player pool otherwise this exercise is futile.

Wade is redundant on this team, especially coming off 2 injury plagued seasons. Replace him with a big, Chandler I guess. That's all I would change.

I remember brainstorming the other day about this very subject.

PG - Jason Kidd/Chris Paul/Deron Williams
SG - Kobe Bryant/Dwyane Wade/Mike Miller
SF - Lebron James/Paul Pierce/Carmelo Anthony
PF - Tim Duncan/Carlos Boozer/Chris Bosh
C - Dwight Howard/Amare Stoudemire/Tyson Chandler

Duncan retired from international competition after 2004, he is not coming back.

Also Olympic teams are only 12 man deep, keep that in mind. I personally would add another reliable FIBA 3 point threat, probably Mike Miller, also Williams Kidd and Paul are redundant, leave one at home

LOL help improve TEAM USA. Is this a joke thread. they already the best team in international ball, why even debate this. But if I had to drop a few players and add some. I would probably drop boozer and add amare. Maybe drop Michael Redd and add someone like Paul Pierce.

I would drop Prince (too many quality forwards already) and get Chandler. Right now, the US team has only one and half centers (Howard and injury prone Bosh, who can play center np, but still...)
