2nd Round Draft Picks
Hey Laker fan here, I was just wondering what you would want in return for one of your 2nd Round Draft Picks.

A future pick you get back in an Odom deal?
Maybe Ariza and Mihm for #34 and Jaric?
You don't have a lot to offer.

Yea, there is not much LA has to offer. Sorry Hoops. MN likely would want a defensive minded big man (assuming we do not take love) or a pick in the 15-20 range.

he's only asking for one, so we won't get a higher pick; but if mihm/ariza for jaric/#31 works for LAL, i think we would take it.

I would rather do the 34. But Mihm/ariza for jaric would be nice. I think Jaric would be good in LA

Re: 2nd Round Draft Picks
Jaric+31 for Mihm+Ariza saves the wolves $15,888,400 in total, with Mihm and Ariza both expiring.
If we can trade a 2nd rounder for 16 million, I think Taylor/McHale would be all over it.

Re: 2nd Round Draft Picks
It would also add to the amount of money we had available for next summer's free agency, where we'd have $27 mil coming off the books. We would be well under the salary cap.
This actually isn't such a bad deal for the Lakers either. I continue to maintain that Jaric has the tools to be a terrific "Ron-Harper-like" PG for the triangle. Yeah, he's overpaid, but for a win-now team, I think Jaric helps more than Ariza + Chris Mihm.

I like Mihm for being another big man upfront. I know he doesn't do a lot, but would probably help. If it moved Jaric's contract I would probably do it.

As both a wolves and lakers fan, I 'd do that trade. Mihm is good enough to start for the wolves or be serviceable backup if we can get a second 1st rounder and draft and center, and ariza could combine with Mayo and Brewer to close out games and shut down the opposing team. Jaric adds needed depth for the Lakers at 3 different positions, and a lot of quality players can be had at #31.

Yeah, that trade would be a dream come true.

Re: 2nd Round Draft Picks
I think I saw the basis of this in another trade. I really like it for the Wolves (and that being the case, LAL probably don't like it), but the scarey thing with those expirings is that they may be more useful than a number of free agents that we could sign.
Mihm could be a starting center until we find better (and let's face it, our luck at finding decent ones has been poor at best).
Ariza is a very athletic and solid defensive young SF/SG prospect and may be worht holding onto (like him better than Snyder myself).
Would almost be as nice to keep them and sign them, though not sure what they would be demanding for contracts, as long as it doesn't eat up what they created in savings for us.

Jaric's not an upgrade at PG (Fisher, Farmar) SG (Kobe, Ariza) and at SF they have Odom moving over there with the return of Bynum, plus a ton of money locked up already in Walton and Radamanovic. Plus they're gonna need to extend Bynum soon.

Re: 2nd Round Draft Picks
how about this:
Jaric/31 for Farmar/Radmanovic
Radman/Jaric is about the same contract, they're about equal value overall, basically the 31 for Farmar
I'd do that trade once we were already on the clock if nobody outstanding falls to us

Re: 2nd Round Draft Picks
Isn't Fisher like 47? Checked, he's 34 before the season starts. Same difference for a PG. He's not a long term solution, and as was said a ton a couple of years ago when these two teams talked trade, Jaric is great for the triangle.

Re: 2nd Round Draft Picks
Fisher is in top-shelf condition, and will always be better than Jaric. And he's been in the triangle for almost his entire career, I doubt Jaric will have anything on him, triangle or no triangle.
when it comes to looking hungover and banging the world's hottest sex suppositories, Jaric wins. When it comes to hitting clutch shots and playing defense and contributing to a winning team, Fisher has him eternally destroyed.

I bet Fisher looks a lot worse next year. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I agree. I like the guy and I love his mental toughness, but quick guards don't age well in the NBA, no matter how smart he is.
We haven't seen Jaric in a triangle, but his strengths seem to be enhanced in that offense, and his weaknesses diminished, particularly on the Lakers.
Also, Fisher can't be traded ethically. If I recall, he has a sick child, and only agreed to play for the Lakers because its close to her hospital? Is that right? Someone feel free to correct me if I have it wrong, or the wrong player.
