RealGM fan mock draft: Warriors on the clock!

Post#1 » by smoothie » Mon Jun 23, 2008 8:57 pm

using knowledge of recent reports from the team you follow most closely, please form an educated guess as to whom your team will select and why.

this is not about who you want your team to draft, but who you think they want to draft given the situation below.

after posting this thread in every board leading up to yours, i've got this Draft Board:

1. Chicago - Rose
2. Miami - Beasely
3. Minnesota - Mayo
4. Seattle - Bayless
5. Memphis - Love
6. New York - Westbrook
7. LA Clippers - Gordon
8. Milwaukee - B.Lopez
9. Charlotte - Randolph
10. New Jersey - Gallinari
11. Indiana - Augustin
12. Sacramento - Arthur
13. Portland - Alexander
14. Golden State - ??

i'm very interested to read your responses! you're on the clock!

Warriors should probably draft Speights or Kofus.. but since they wouldnt play much and the Warriors play smaller.. guessing Brandon Rush.. considering he had the impressive workout here in Oakland a week ago and he has played a few years of college ball

Since this isn't about personal preference, I say they go with Donte Greene. A versatile athletic forward who can run the floor well and spread the floor shooting.

Well your premise is not a good one because the Warriors front office is notoriously tight-lipped about letting anybody know anything about what they're thinking. When you hear they are interested in a certain player then you can almost certainly disregard that player as he is most likely a smoke screen.

For me, I think there is a chance they take a flier on Ajinca as he provides length and can shoot alright. Don Nelson would like these attributes. I could also see them go after CDR, Rush, Speights, Green, Jason Thompson and maybe Koufos.

ajinca and rush seem to be popular choices here... with speights, koufos, and greene in the conversation.

Considering that you have Randolph going at 9 to Charlotte, we didn't consider him.

oh shoot. lost my mind for a second. :D

so if it's true that you can't usually believe the front office here because of all the smoke screens. lets try to weed through those.

is there anyone that they are really hyping up at the moment that can be a smoke screen?

GS hasn't been that adverturous in who they pick recently, so I'd guess Sprights, with Green as second most likely at #14. CDR and Thompson are likely options if they trade down to the 17-25 range but would be seen as a reach at #14. If they really are thinking heavily for next year then it could be Rush, but I don't see it.

looks like a lot of ajinca or rush with some spieghts mixed in.

does anyone have any reason to think management would take one over the other?
