Clippers Wolves

Post#1 » by cpfsf » Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:51 am

Current lineup (including RA's)
Foye Telfair
Jaric McCants Buckner
Brewer Snyder Walker
Gomes Smith
Jefferson Richard Madsen

Wolves - Clippers...
Wolves trade: Mayo & Gomes
Clippers trade: Thornton, (Lopez or Love, depends on who is available), Livingston, and return first

New Lineup
Foye Telfair Livingston
Brewer McCants Jaric
Thornton Snyder Buckner
Jefferson Smith Walker
(Lopez or Love) Richard Madsen

Why it benefits us...
-Huge starting lineup
-This young team will build a lot of chemistry
-Every player appears to be a perfect complement to each other
-Jefferson gets to play his natural PF position
-Save money
-Get our first round pick back

Other things that must be considered…
-move up with the two second round picks (hopefully for a big)
-maybe trade Jaric & Walker for Ben Wallace and a 2009 second round pick (Det has our 2009 second round pick, his contract ends sooner than Jaric so gets them off the books, and it's a 2 for 1 deal)
-or just buy out walker (no explanation needed here)

I don't think it would work since Gomes and Livingston are free agents, the Minneapolis media would be all over Mayo and it would be a disaster to trade him anytime after the night of the draft.

We ARE able to trade the #3 as the pick itself as long as we get a 1st round pick from this year in return. So we can simplify it as #3/Gomes for #7/Future pick back/Thorton/Livingston. I think the Clips would think that would be too steep. I cant say I wouldnt agree with them. If both Brand and Mags leave, they have no SG/PG (depending on where the place Mayo) or PF. Thorton is their fall back plan if Brand leaves, they cant afford to lose both.

I suppose they can keep their first round draft pick, because that would be a pretty risky move. Mayo would probably be PG because Mobley is capable of playing the SG position. But yes, it really does depend on who they can successfully resign.
