What would you rather do?

Have the number 1 pick or try to win a title.

What do you mean by "try" how far are we getting here in the playoffs?

Unless you are a top team then I would rather have the #1 pick.

Well if it's the Rockets then not very far.

But yeah, it depends on how good that team is. If it is a #1, #2, or #3 seed then I would say title. Otherwise, #1 pick.

Well if your talking about the Rockets then yes I'll take the number 1 pick, you have Rose and Beasly who have great potential, so I think I'd rather go in the rebuilding mode.

Rockets "try" to win a title every year, and look where that gets them.

#1 pick, please.

Oh btw, especially with the way some of these young guys are leading teams to success...players like Deron, Paul, Dwight, and Roy, I'd easily rather rebuild if I'm a 4 or under seed. But then again you can't really ask this topic to the west, because the 4th seed of the west won 55 games, which isn't bad at all.

Title, easily. Winning is what playing basketball in the nba is about.

So your basically asking?
Do you want to be the Spurs or the Celtics or Lakers or Pistons
Or do you want to be Knicks, Miami etc?
I'll take playoffs over mediocrity!

Take the Boston approach...it obviously works.

Tank horribly and obviously trying to get a once a decade center.
If that works, pair him with a very good PF and an all star SF.

If that doesn't work, trade your very good PF and scrubs for a first ballot hall of famer PF, and send your draft pick with some other scrubs for a former all star SG who's still effective despite being on the decline of his prime
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Yea that doesn't work often at all.

Both those teams that KG and RA came from were lottery teams and decided to go rebuilding mode.

It's not easy to trade for stars....let alone 2 in the same off-season.

Depends who is in the draft I guess.

Hornets tried pretty hard this year, but I would have taken a first round out for some LeBron, Greg Oden or Dwight Howard to pair with Paul

You play the game for titles so I'd much rather go for a title than a #1.

I'll take Andrea Bargnani over the title.

Lets just say for a second that the Celtics did tank the 2006-07 season...

The fifth pick isn't the prize they would have been seeking. They traded the 5th pick along with a handful of players in return for a star. That was a great move to win, but they did have to sacrifice some, or atleast some might say so.

Then they traded Al Jefferson, who'll never be KG but he'll still be a stud in 5 years, and KG will be well on the decline by then. This a trade that made sense for both sides IMO.

Then they got good vets for a good price. Comes with the attractive situation in Boston.

Boston earned their title because Danny Ainge was aggresive and made all the right moves. He took a team with much depth, but too much youth, and he found the GMs willing to invest time his youth.
