Tyronn Lue deciding between Boston and Dallas

Clearly indicates that Sam won't be back. (Hooooraaaaaaaay!) But I think he's only the backup plan if House decides to sign somewhere else for more money.

The teams aren`t allowed to talk to FA`s until July 1st! What is wrong with Lue saying he has been talking to 7-8 teams? These players aren`t really smart...

Lue is decent but defensively he is just too much of a liability. He is too small. If we sign him instead of Cassell I guess I can live with that but we have to bring back Eddie!!!

Lue is KG˙s good friend, right? So that might have something to do with it but I think we can get a better fit than Lue...

This could happen. Not only are Lue and Garnett close, but Lue and Doc are too.

Lue is a good guard who presses the opposing players. If Lue signs, you can bet that Puritt will get around 15 minutes per game next season. Right now, it's Lue or House. Cassell is gone. No way Danny doesn't realize that Cassell disrupted the team.

I have never like Lue. Not really sure what he brings to the table. I'll take House every day of the week.

I'm not exactly sure where the Lue hate is coming from. He can shoot, bring the ball up, and is a half way decent defender. We wouldn't ask him to be Chris Paul. Here is the list of unrestricted free agent point guards this summer:

-Eddie House
-Sam Cassell
-Chris Duhon
-Tyronn Lue
-Anthony Carter
-Lindsey Hunter
-Dan Dickau
-Smush Parker
-Jason Williams
-Royal Ivey
-Darrell Armstrong
-Jannero Pargo
-Carlos Arroyo
-Keyon Dooling
-Kevin Ollie's corpse
-Anthony Johnson
-Beno Udrih
-Damon Stoudamire

That's the list. Now consider we are going to have to pony up dough for Posey, essentially eliminating the following players: Duhon, Arroyo, Pargo, Udrih, and probably Jason Williams, and that Hunter isn't going anywhere, Lue doesn't seem like such a bad option. Plus, he has championship experience with the Lakers, which never hurts.

As much as I love Eddie, Lue is a far superior ball handler. We need another ball handler, and since Cassell isn't coming back and Pruitt probably isn't ready, what is wrong with Lue.

Guys relax !!!

There are going to be about 100 players this off-season telling the media that they want to play for Boston or are deciding whether to play for Boston. This is the result of a World Championship. So far there is Lue and Cassell saying they will be playing for Boston. Ainge probably hasn't spoken to either one.

This is going to happen all summer long. The good thing is Ainge will be able to pick and choose. Celtics win !!

Sounds good to me. :D

Lue doesn't suck he just is a little small and gets posted up. He is a very good on ball defender and an excellent 3pt shooter as well as a real PG. He would fit in very well with this team.

The July 1 date is not all that important, beyond that it is more likely that agents are contacting teams and guaging interest. The players choice is to remain in Dallas or go to Boston it doesn't mean has offers to do either.

I'm not crazy about Lue, but if he's a good fit for the team as a backup I wouldn't be upset about signing him. Cassell, OTOH, should just bow out while he's on top. 39, 3 rings--- time to start your coaching career, Sam!

Lue can pass and shoot the ball. Yeah, he's undersized, but a good on the ball defender. He could back up Rondo, and we bring in Gabe if more size is needed.

If E House comes back is there really any use for Lue?

Lue is a better ballhandler, a better defender, and a better shooter, believe it or not. Lue vs. House, career stats:

Lue: 43.7% FG, 38.9% 3PT
House: 40.8% FG, 38.3% 3PT

Last year, Lue shot 45.3% from 3, while House shot 39.3%. Now, House shot about twice as many threes so that might explain the difference to some degree, but Lue is a true ballhandler while House is more of a SG in a PG's body. Lue won't remind you of Steve Nash but he can distribute the ball. His career assist rate of 23.4 is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade from Eddie House's 17.5%.

Eddie is a pure shooter. That's about all he does well. He plays hard on D (at least he did in Boston) but he is not very good on D. Lue can be much more effective here, being a pest with his quick feet to bother quicker guards, while we use Pruitt (hopefully) to come off the bench against bigger PGs like Deron Williams or Billups.

If we can get Lue for Eddie House-like money, I'd be happy with that. I will always remember what House helped to accomplish, but if we can get a better player at the same price, I'm not going to get sentimental.

Lue may be a better ballhandler, but I still like House and what he brings to the team. Even when he's on the bench he seems to have an effect. The camaraderie he's built up with his teammates shouldn't be overlooked. From a pure stats perspective though, Lue seems better.

Lue may have a better basketball ability, but idk if he can bring the defensive ability House did. House was clutch and did well defensively. If Lue plays the same way as House he may be able to bring what House did... but there is a reason House had the reputation as a bad defender and still has one dispite this year... it is going to take an extrodinary effort for Lue to not be a defensive liability.

Lue wouldn't be the best or worst option avialable. If Posey demands teh MLE then Lue is a great pickup.

Don't you realize that it's either Lue or House? If House wants money, he can get it elsewhere, but we just won't pay him the big bucks, and Lue is a good and cheap backup plan. But really, Lue has already said one year ago that he will play for us this season. This move doesn't surprise me.
