Your 2008-2009 Phoenix Suns
Okay. Couple of days until the DRAFT. Thought this would be fun. We have had so many ideas floating around out there, a lot of them stellar. Each of us has our own idea of what we would like to see happen.
So put it all into one post. Explain your:
1. Fantasy DRAFT DAY TRADES
2. Fantasy DRAFT PICK SELECTIONS
3. Fantasy FREE AGENT ACQUISITIONS
Finish it off with your 2008-2009 PHX SUNS roster.
*There TASTIC, changed from "Ideal" to "Fantasy"

1. Ideal DRAFT DAY TRADES
a. Barbosa to POR for Jarrett Jack, Martell Webster and #13.
b. Diaw to NY for Malik Rose, David Lee and #6.
2. Ideal DRAFT PICK SELECTIONS
#6 - Joe Alexander
#13 - Brandon Rush
#15 - DeAndre Jordan
3. Ideal FREE AGENT ACQUISITIONS
Skinner signed for the Vet Minimum.
2008-2009 PHX SUNS roster.
PG - Nash / Jack / Strawberry
SG - Bell / Webster / Rush / Tucker
SF - Hill / Alexander
PF - Stoudemire / Lee / Rose
C - O'Neal / Skinner / Jordan
I could go any direction with the #15. Personally I am not all that thrilled with the Centers we would be looking at. I kept Tucker on the roster though we could easily see him leave in one of the two trades I have put together. This leaves us at 15, two more than the required 13... which is not likely on a Sarver funded team.
Additionally, this puts us into a great cap situation over the next couple of years.

Um, I think we need to decipher between "Ideal" and "Fantasy"
Diaw to NY for Malik Rose, David Lee and #6????? The chaos in New York would be worse than 9/11x100
Come on guys, lets pretend we have the brain-to-keyboard thing under control.

Re: Your 2008-2009 Phoenix Suns
I have no idea why Clips would even LOOK at that deal...Maggette>>>Barbosa, and last time I checked #7>>>#15
SS your trades are flat out madness, they start within the realm of possibility but then you get greedy
This is mine:
Trade Barbosa to POR for #13 + Webster
Trade Diaw, Tucker, #15 to MIL for Simmons, Villa, CBell and #8
Re-sign Skinner, and keep DJ and Hill
Shaq
Amare
Simmons (yeah, thats right he's my starter at SF...we need the 3s and a rested Hill dammit!)
Bell
Nash
----
Hill
Webster
Villanueva
Charlie Bell
Skinner
DJ
#8 - Alexander - might be a bit high, but he's a rare athletic beast who works and plays HARD
#13 - BRush - very solid, could play GG's role...seems like he could play like Jimmy Jackson did
If not Rush then maybe trade the #13 down to late teens/low 20s and grab a big like Jason Thompson, Speights or Lopez - and acquire a future pick in the deal...
Youth, shooting, lots of interchangeable players who play multi positions, and good athleticism.
BOOM

Because a O'Neal for Marion and Banks deal made so much sense.
Have fun with this. Don't over-think it.
Personally I don't think the POR trade is that for out there. Throw in the #15 for all I care.
The NY deal, and your responses to it, don't seem to take into account their new head coach. The only real piece that NY would be losing, as far as D'antoni's system is concerned would be the #6. Lee will get lost in his system and Rose is just there to make the money work. Switch him out if you think there is a better alternative... but there has been talk about these two. These aren't totally out of the real of possibility.

I agree that Maggette is a better player, but he is gone for the clips. he can opt out and they'll get nothing for him (and that gives him the ability to somehow veto trades).

Re: Your 2008-2009 Phoenix Suns
Tastic, i understand what you are saying about the Maggatte trade, but clearly they are afraid he leaves them and they get nothing. They are interested and NEED a sg, so i believe this deal could actually fall through, and in this draft, there isnt much of a drop from 7-15..
1. Fantasy DRAFT DAY TRADES
TRADE 1:
Suns Trade: Barbosa and Future First
Suns Get: Corey Maggatte
Trade 2: (3 WAY)
Suns Trade: Boris Diaw, Alando Tucker, 48th Pick
Suns Get: Sean Williams, Marcus Williams, Trenton Hassel, 21st Pick (NJ)
NJ Trades: Sean WIlliams, Marcus Williams, Trenton Hassel, 21st Pick, Josh Boone, KVH
NJ Gets: Boris Diaw, Antonio McDyess, 29th Pick(Detriot) , 48th pick (Suns)
Pistons Trade: McDyess, 29th
Pistons Get: Boone, KVH, Tucker
2. Fantasy DRAFT PICK SELECTIONS
This leaves the suns with the following picks in this years draft:
15th - Brandon Rush
21st - Robin Lopez
3. Fantasy FREE AGENT ACQUISITIONS
Skinner
Theo Ratliff
Andre Barret
YOUR 2008-2009 PHOENIX SUNS:
Nash/M.Williams/Strawberry
Bell/Rush/Strawberry
Maggs/Hill/Hassel
Stoudemire/S.Williams/Lopez
Shaq/Lopez/S.Williams
Inactive:
Skinner (veteran PF)
Andre Barret (pg)
Theo Ratliff (veteran C)
This gives us a terrific bench with a veteran holding it together (Hill) and keeps him healthier. We get some young feet in the Starting lineup (Maggs). A nice backup for nash (williams). Athletic backup for Stoudemire, defensive bigman that can work under shaq and we are set for the future after SHAQ/Bell/Nash expire we have the young guys to take over. (M. Williams, Rush, Lopez).. If this happend i would be really happy.

Re: Your 2008-2009 Phoenix Suns
Ok - by "Ideal" I'm imagining that a canny GM finds a way to make these work salarywise and that Sarver decides to pay some lux money. Let's assume that for the sake of not having a 20,000 word post that justifies and what-ifs all the maneuvring required.
On the other hand, nothing that is ridiculous. No Marks for Beasely etc.
Portland is apparently in discussions so - Barbs and whatever to PTL for Rodriguez and #13 (you knew I'd have him in here...) Gives him a year or two to apprentice under Nash, we add a pick with a slight move up.
Toronto, also said to be on the phone with us. Diaw for Kapono and Parker. Adds 3-point ability for the break and a strong backup at the 2. Or some package for one of them and the #17. This is a bit of a dream but BC is alleged to be ready to make some big moves. I don't think they're ready to give up on Il Mago yet but wouldn't that be a frontline - Shaq, Amare, Bargnani. Inside and outside game at the same time.
FA - I'd really like to see us use the MLE for Pietrus. I can't see any way to get Monta Ellis but that would be an early Christmas. Is there anyone better than Skinner for the price as a backup big? If KT would come back for the min, that would really help.
Obviously, some moves make others redundant or flat-out impossible.
Draft - we somehow add a high pick, with NY seeming the likeliest partner. That negates one of the Diaw/Barbs possibilities but could get us Westbrook and hardens up the perimeter defense.
At 13 we get someone scary with the proverbial "upside", a bit of a project as we now have some people to play in front of this pick and can bring him along without throwing him to the lions, or nailing him to the bench.
At 17 a defensive, rebounding big, just someone solid, not a potential star - a Hibbert type guy. The other Lopez maybe. Or one of the African giants, another project. One of the two will work out, the other isn't a costly mistake.
Or Speights - the more I read about him the better he sounds.
(Sh*t - this starts to look like a strong draft, doesn't it?)
At 48 - no idea. Joey Dorsey. Bill Walker. Take a flyer
