Mayo confident that he will go no. 3

Post#1 » by Calinks » Tue Jun 24, 2008 5:33 pm

He told ESPN that he feels pretty confident that that's where he is going. He said the interview with the Wolves went extremely well and the Wolves even wanted to talk to him longer but he had to meet with other teams so they were cut off.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

I have no doubts he goes #3, i do have doubts regarding whether we are going to keep him or not.

Ya right now I'm happy with either keeping OJ Mayo or trading down that nets us another good player.

If it is Hoiberg's decision we keep Mayo. Hoiberg loves Mayo. He loves him big time.

Hopefully they decide with a three point contest. or free throws. Or chess. Hell, I'll take Hoiberg in Tic-Tac-Toe, too.

Bayless? As in a trade-down?

I'm assuming at #3, but I've never heard anything about McHale wanting Bayless. I think it makes most sense that he wants a big man like Love. And its been reported he has a man crush on Gallinari so I don't know where the Bayless thing came from.

Devilz has been pitching Bayless as the #3 pick for a while now ( I think, HOPE, jokingly). surprised nobody noticed this.

Yea, you know, its not like we have a roster chocked full of talented players under 26. We've managed to make such mistakes as defensive stopper Corey Brewer, and talented combo guard with plenty of offensive potential in Randy Foye. Not to mention the likes of Al Jefferson who, other than D-Twizzy, was the only player to average a 20 and 11 this past season while playing out of position against bigger competition.

You know, I like the McHale potshots as much as the next guy, but this feeling-sorry-for-ourselves/we-always-make-the-wrong-decision crap needs to end.

What were his exact words? Just by reading this thread it seems like he really wants to play for us.

Yeah, for all the boneheaded moves made, it seems like he's at least building a decent squad that should be able to contend for years to come...we hope.

but then you'd like to think 1 lotto pick, 2 top 10 picks, and Kevin Garnett would net you something decent barring purposeful incompetence

regarding his quote, maybe Mayo is trying to let Riley know "brah, if you don't take me at #2, MN will at #3, so watch yoself bitch" and trying to ensure Riley doesn't screw up his life by trying to work out some wacky trade scenario with Seattle or something
