Draft Day Trades....

Post#1 » by JMDTac48 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 3:59 am

I just want to report that the rumors saying the Cavaliers are trying to move up in the draft are true but I got some inside details on what the Cavaliers are trying to trade and what are the Cavs are trying to get back.

Their are three serious teams the Cavs are seriously trying to make a trade happen with:
The Three Teams:
Portland
Seattle
and New Jersey

Out of the three teams... New Jersey and Portland are the teams likely will pull the trigger on any deals with the Cavs on Draft Day

The Possible Trades:

Cleveland:
Sending Out: Number 19 - Varejao(If he agrees to get traded)
Getting Back: Number 13 - Channing Frye

Portland:
Sending Out: Number 13 - Channing Frye
Getting Back: Number 19 - Varejao(If he agrees to get traded)

Cleveland:
Sending Out: Number 19 - Joe Smith
Getting Back: Number 21 - Marcus Williams

New Jersey:
Sending Out: Number 21 - Marcus Williams
Getting Back: Number 19 - Joe Smith
Their is more to this trade, but this trade will be more likely to happen if Brandon Rush is taken before the 19th pick, which means the Cavaliers will try to get Nicolas Batum with the 21st. pick. but their is more to this trade then just Smith and Williams.

You might not have heard about any Cleveland and Seattle talks, but I report that the Sonics and Cavs are trying to pull something out. You might think its not close to possible for the Cavs to get the number 4 pick, but the Cavaliers have called the Sonics of a possible trade that includes their number 4 spot. Im not sure what is on the Table at this point, but just watch out for this Trade to surface.

Forgive me for questioning you, but how exactly do you have this info? I dont usually look a lot into post counts to judge people's posts, but with all of these rumors being thrown out its usually safter to trust someone with some background.

I don't get why Portland would make that trade?

I really don't want to say exactly how I got these informations, but these are not just rumors but are true discussions between The Cavs and other Teams. The Blazers just made a Deal with the Hornets to buy the 27th Pick and it seems more and more likely they will trade their 13th Pick. And I KNOW the Portland and Cleveland talks are still on.... but with the Blazers trying to get more experienced rather then getting younger, the 13th pick will be traded and I really think the Blazers and Cavs will get something done on Draft Day.

The Blazers needs are at the Point Guard position, and with this draft loaded with so much talent but so little at point guard, it seems like they won't be in great position to get DJ Augustin or Russell Westbrook, so thats why they are trying to trade that pick for more experience. What the Cavs so far have on the Table is Varejao and the 19th pick....
And What the Blazers might do is either trade that pick again, but at this point it seems like they might keep that pick to get Robin Lopez at 19(If the trade w/ the cavs go down), but with the 27th pick from the Hornets they will try to get Batum, who they really like at that spot of the Draft.
(But these won't happen unless Varejao accepts going to Portland) But I think this trade will likely go down

In the past week or so, The Cavs have already made public they really want Brandon Rush, but with Rush now projecting Higher in the Draft, the Cavs will have to get higher then 19. So with the 13th pick, don't be surprised if they get Brandon Rush at 13.

Portland at 13 wants a Point Guard, but with this draft being just 3 point guard deep(Rose, Augustin, and Westbrooke), they would rather trade down and get someone with experience to go with there already young team and at the same time they can get a Player they really want(Robin Lopez) at the 19th pick. because if they stayed at that position(13) to get Lopez, it would seem to early for him.

I really don't think Fegan would agree with trade to Portland where Varejao has zero chance of starting and he would have to battle for minutes with other bigs...

Believe me, I know more about what Portland wants than you, but using your information.... Portland wants a PG so they trade for a PF and then draft a C instead? Sorry, I don't see this happening and you should probably share your source with the mod of this board so they know you're legit and not just making stuff up. That's how we do it on the Blazers board anyways.

I don't like the Jersey trade because I don't think Williams is any upgrade from West. Cleveland trading for the 4th pick isn't an option, but I wish it was. I don't really see Portland doing that deal either, unless they value Varejao's youth and ability to play backup Center or PF for the future. Varejao is more of a defensive/rebounding big.
