I still don't see the harm in simply seeing what's out there for #2 .
Riley hasn't even done anything official except cut Alexander Johnson, and yet many are furious with him. How about we save the anger until he actually DOES something? Doesn't that make sense? Right now, you're just getting upset over stuff Chad Fraud or Ira make up and other media outlets repeat.
Give the guy space to do his job. He has shown he's no wuss like Paxson, who hesitates long on EVERYTHING and missed out on Garnett, Gasol, Kobe, D'Antoni, etc. I much prefer someone active like Riley or Pritchard (Portland) to some hesitant lame-ass who can't pull the trigger on anything requiring balls and has nothing to show win-wise after like 20 straight Top 10 picks.
There's no point in being angry at someone who hasn't even done anything yet. Riley always gets the best player in a deal (dating all the way back to Gatling-Davis) so there's no need to panic. It's not like Chris Wallace (Memphis) is running things here...

Re: Rumor: Trade with Clippers
Why not have Wade, Marion and Brand?
I'd pay to see a Heat vs Celtics matchup next year if those were the teams. A good #2, #3, and #4 on both teams.
Wade, Marion and Brand vs Allen, Pierce and KG

I don't like Marion+2 for Brand+7, I think it makes us better but I think we need to do better. If it's Blount+Banks+#2 for Brand+7 we may have something. Then we could still go into next year with roughly 15 mil in space and still get a guard to pair with Wade this year.

Re: Rumor: Trade with Clippers
I agree completely, Wade/Marion/Brand follows the Boston model and puts us in contention immediately with our own Big Three. Add a sweet shooting PG with the MLE (West? Gibson?) and a veteran, defensive big (Kurt Thomas?) with the LLE/vet min and we have the pieces to win now.
To all those who are saying that adding Brand would not have the same effect on us that adding KG had on Boston, please recognize that Brand would be coming in to be our 2nd star, and that our 1st star is already on the roster. Meanwhile, Boston already had their 2nd star (Pierce), to whom they added their best (KG) and third-best player (Allen).

Re: Ford:Brand on the Block; Broussard Update Pg 3
Last time Riley had a "late special" workout was when he had the hots for Odom and had PJ Brown traded to Memphis to get him (they changed their minds on draft day).
IMO, with Riley having the hots for Mayo and a deal with the Timberwolves unlikely, I could see a trade in place with Seattle for pick #2 and bad contract(s) of Blount (Banks too?) for pick #4, #24, Petro Wilcox and something else. Maybe we swap 2nd rounders as well.
Either way, this would be the most attractive trade since we would unload salaries to snatch Boozer or Brand in 2009, we would have a (slim) shot at Mayo if Minny passes on him or draft the fallback option Bayless with pick #4. At the same time, you put pressure on the Clippers to DO something and get pick #2+contracts for Brand and #7 if they have the desire to move up to that slot.
At the end it looks like #2 will not stay in Miami for too long.
