Shaq gets slapped by sheriff for rap about Bryant

PHOENIX (AP)—Shaquille O’Neal will lose his special deputy’s badge in Maricopa County because of language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center’s use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in 2006 and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse later that year.

“I want his two badges back,” Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”

ROFL you guys are pathetic, that Shaq rap was priceless Kobe could never do anything close to as funny as that. Also who the hell cares about a pretend sheriffs badge? LOL, Kobe got burned by Shaq and you guys are looking for any reason to laugh at shaq when you guys should be laughing with Shaq at Kobe

Most of us aren't 10 years old, so no, it wasn't really funny to us. Shaq's humor is suited for the pre-teen audience, and I would have told you the exact same thing 5 years ago when he stilled played for the Lakers.

Anyway, Shaq should have known that there would be some consequences to his actions. Not just Shaq, but stars in general should understand that everything they do will be put out there for everyone to see/hear. Serves him right that his badges are being stripped. Most here could care less, but I suspect that to Shaq this is a big deal.

Shaq does that part time police stuff for good publicity, especially when being traded to a new city like PHX, I'm sure he could care less. The dude could go anywhere and get an honorary badge

I think your missing the point

Shaq is in a grauate program to get a degree in Law Enforcement, he has been a champion of supporting law enforcement in every city he has lived in. At the end of the day it could all be something to help his image but most superstars like him pick up a cause and this is his.

It would be like someone who supports the special olympics and special ed getting caught on camera making fun of those with disabilities.

this will certainly tarnish what he has spent time creating as far as his off court persona, and he certainly regrets this childish act on tape, and i bet he would take it all back if he could.

The funny part about the whole thing is Kobe gets the last laugh!!
